How to Make Sesame Dressing
The full recipe, with amounts, can be found in the recipe card below.
You’ve got to love a recipe where there’s no cooking required, and where all you have to do is add all of the ingredients to a jar and simply shake! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Grapeseed oil — Has a milder flavor than olive oil. You can use canola oil if you’d like too.
- Seasoned rice vinegar — Get the seasoned version, not the unseasoned, which is more acidic in flavor.
- Sesame oil — Brings mega flavor to the salad’s dressing. I used regular sesame oil, but toasted sesame oil is great for an even deeper sesame flavor.
- Sugar — For a touch of sweetness.
- Light soy sauce — I find that light soy sauces already have plenty of sodium.
- Sesame seeds — For texture and more delicious sesame flavor. I prefer toasting my sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat to enhance their flavor.

Recipe Variations
- Use honey or agave instead of sugar
- Add a little Sriracha or Sambal olek if you want some heat
- A little bit of grated garlic would be a yummy addition
- Freshly grated ginger would be delicious as well
- Use tamari instead of soy sauce if you want to make this gluten-free
- Swap the sesame oil for toasted sesame oil for a more prominent sesame flavor
