Ah! Happy Friday once again!
First off, my husband cooks the best ribeyes. End of story.
Typing my greeting of “Happy Friday” in these posts each week can sound a little mechanical, repetitive, and rote, but honestly, it’s a my reminder to feel grateful for each and every week I’m here to say it, and grateful to all of you out there reading it. So HAPPY FRIDAY ya’ll!
This weekend I’m easing out of summer vacation with a group of 15 college besties. If you’ve been a reader here for long, you know that each and every year our group spends one weekend a year together (except last year), sans partners or children. Our conversations have changed from talking about our new careers to talking about retirement plans, from birthing babies to hosting their weddings, and of course, hot flashes have def moved to the forefront.
This friend time together is just about us. It’s our time to reminisce, reconnect, and laugh our asses off just like we did when we were in college—except our bedtime comes a whole lot earlier.
You know what’s blowing my mind? Realizing that next year my daughter will be the same age I was when I met these ladies who have forever influenced and shaped my life. Seriously, whoa. My hope is that as she moves on to her next chapter, she will find her own tribe, to learn and blossom with each experience they share together. Isn’t it hard to be a parent where we take our own experiences and transfer them to our children? Hers will surely be different than mine, but I hope she enjoys and learns from them just as much.
So that’s why this week I’ve been prepping all the food, planning the fun, and getting ready to immerse myself in some serious girl time. If you haven’t connected with a friend for a while, do it today. It’ll mean the world to both of you.
But first, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves.

I was watching the Olympic horse jumping competition and was perplexed as to how they get the horses all the way to Tokyo. I mean, it’s not like traveling with your track shoes. And then, this popped up.
