It’s the weekend = Happy Friday!
These days nearly everyone has a camera literally at their fingertips—thank you smart phones—that makes it incredibly easy to document nearly every moment of every day. And believe me, it isn’t just the kids sticking out their tongues for selfies, everyone is taking snaps and creating memories. And I think that’s a really, really great thing. I use my iPhone camera not just to document momentous occasions, but also as a visual reminder of items I want to buy, social media posts I want to remember, what I eat (like the veg version above of this recipe), recipes I want to share, plus so much more.
But what I really want to take more pics of are the “nothing” moments. I’m working more on making it a habit to capture daily photos of the unposed moments, like when the sunlight shadows as it filters through the trees, or my daughter and her friends lumped in a pile on her bed doing homework, or my dog sleeping under my bed covers and somehow I catch that big yawn.
Taking photos of the day’s small moments forces me to take notice of what’s happening around me with a different perspective. Slow down girl! What’s your hurry? The unscripted times are the real jewels that memories are made of.
Back in the day, blogs started as an online diary but most have morphed from showcasing a day in the life to becoming more generic in search of a broader audience. Read: Boooooring. But a few have held on to their unique voice and vision and still give me major inspiration and ideas to create my own personal photographic time capsule, especially this blog and this blog.
Want to join me? Do you wish for more photographic evidence of your daily memories? Let’s do it! If you need ideas, take a look at the blogs above or here’s a list of themes to start. What moments in your life do you wish you had a picture of? Snap! Now you have it.
With that, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves.
