Hello and happy Friday.
Well, we made it. College drop-off was a success and less teary than I expected. At least for me and Smudge. Her daddy on the other hand…let’s just say he is a supreme softie. Move-in to the dorm went smoothly, her roommates are so cute and outgoing, and she’s liking her classes! It’s all I could ask for. I’m so excited for her and this next chapter. In fact, I’m excited for all of us because now we are empty nesters so there’s gonna be a whole lot more “us” and “me” time. Parrrrtae! haha
Now that we’re back home as a grand family of two (plus our pooch) I have fall fever. I am 100% ready to walk the dog in this glorious weather, hunt out fall leaves, declutter the house, watch the new season of Survivor and everything football, and get into some serious comfort food cooking. As I mentioned last week, soup is at the center of our dinner routine but I still have loads of cherry tomatoes in the garden to play with. Tomatoes, pasta…I’m sensing a plan. And this pasta with garlicky tomatoes recipe that straddles summer and fall is part of it!
But first, take a gander at this week’s Friday Faves.
This Japanese artist’s cardboard cutouts rotate to create shadow art that will blow your mind. How in the world???
Plus, creamy and dreamy is what this one-pot gnocchi recipe is made of.
Pork chops with apples sounds so good right now.
Or, these pork chops stuffed with gouda look extra gouda, too.
My kinda apple pie has a savory twist, with a crust reminiscent of a Cheezit (insert heart eyes emoji here).
A few years ago I fell for farro and this fall farro salad has me circing back for more.
This butternut squash couscous salad situation looks so bomb.
Break out the veggies for this classic lo mein recipe.
A Greek-style, one-pan burger recipe is high on my must-make list.
And, so does this hearty soup that’s totally making my mouth water.
Speaking of soup, I just made a batch of my favorite creamy tomato basil, and so should you.
But this sun-dried tomato version (with grilled cheese croutons!) also looks fun.
Bookmark this cranberry fluff recipe for Thanksgiving.
This couple traded in their grassy yard for a more sustainable wildflower meadow. Would you?
Smudge tried on this shearling coat before she left for school and it was soooo good, but we didn’t get it. Now it’s on sale!
And then afterward, I talked my sister into getting these pleather pants to wear to Beyoncé in Houston. Ya gotta go for it for Bey.

And that’s it for this week. Have a great weekend!
