Hello and happy Friday.
First off, my heart breaks for those who have lost loved ones, homes, and lives due to the explosion in Lebanon. What an incredible tragedy. Another reminder that today is your day, so make it the best you can.
Secondly, summer food is peaking! Our nightly dinners have pretty much consisted of grilled fish (this is how to easily make it the BEST), grilled or roasted veg, and some variation of a juicy tomato salad. SO GOOD.
And finally, I am reading this book (such a good summer read) and this passage leapt out at me:
“Let me tell you the sweet spot for being a rock ‘n’ roll star. People think it’s when you’re at the top but no. That’s when you got the pressure and the expectations. What’s good is when everybody’s thinking you’re headed somewhere fast, when you’re all potential. Potential is f*ckin’ joy.”
From a young age, I remember my mom preaching that window shopping was as much fun getting what you wished for and the journey is half the fun of getting there. Back then, the potential of what I could become and experience was as big as the universe. Looking at my future through youthful eyes, who knows what amazingness was before me?
As I’ve grown older, I make sure to remind myself that while I’m not 25 anymore, I still have LOADS of potential. I can still become a better golfer (my latest obsession), have new adventures, take on new hobbies, and tackle new projects, not because I have to, but because I want to. Because even with what I’ve achieved as an adult, I have potential, and with that comes pure f*ckin’ joy.
What’s something you want to achieve/be/do? Look for it, name it, then do it, and you just might discover joy comes along with getting there.
But before you get started, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves.
