Hello and Happy Friday friends!
What a fun week it’s been, filled with ALL the 4th of July festivity-ness, because there’s nothing like breaking the work week up with a holiday to make things go a little smoother. Bookend-ed vacation days for the win!
I hope your 4th of July was safe and so well spent. Our day consisted of pool time, golfing, and relaxing with friends. We also got some good laughs at the daring individuals who entered the belly flop competition of whom we were certainly not one even though we totally qualify #buddhabellies. As usual, the fireworks did not disappoint, because when has a fireworks display EVER disappointed this girl?
So much good food was to be had, especially if you were the winner of this contest. Or maybe not so much food is a better thing????!!!
Thanks to my still-a-punk-rocker-rockin’-dude of a husband, The Clash crashed the Country Club as any non-conformist would do on the 4th of July. My embroidered pink flowered floppy hat and preppy striped swimsuit made up for his bad boy ways.
But then we had a scene straight from Invasion of the Body Snatchers because who the heck stole my baby girl and replaced her with this 6-foot-tall leggy beauty in her dreamy clout goggles ala Kurt Cobain’s penchant for them…and punk hits the country club once again!! But still, she’s rocking my world because she’s simply growing up, and it’s honestly a little crazy to see in action. But she sure knows how to float that gold glitter-filled tube in style IMHO. p.s. get 20% off the tube when you enter SPARKLER at checkout.
This holiday you guys went crazy on the blog making the classics like my mom’s Best Potato Salad recipe, my Classic Macaroni Salad with this Grilled Corn Salad with Tomato and Avocado.
For our firecrackin’ dinner at home, I made my husband’s new favorite Creamy Dilled Red Potato Salad, a new Instant Pot Rib recipe coming your way next week, grilled corn on the cob with all the flavored butters, and a new bean salad recipe I have been craving to make homemade for at least five years and is another recipe coming your way.
Earlier in the week I baked my dad his favorite Four Berry Pie but totally missed the boat on making star cut-outs instead of what looks to be half moons above? What was I thinking??? Obviously I wasn’t. So I added some stars to my pie anyway (nothing a little photoshop can’t help :) )
Summer is in full swing, and I have to say, all the foodie things are looking good, gooder, and goodest here on the blog!
Tonight I’ll be reminiscing over my 8th grade heartaches and will be swaying and singing along to my very most favorite love song band, AIR SUPPLY, in concert before hitting the black jack tables with my husband and my dad while my mom wonders how she ever got involved in all of this. Because I’m all outta love and I can’t live without you. :) EEEK. This is going to be epic.
And what’s this??? All Outta Love is on the Deadpool soundtrack???!! Man, I am out of it.
However, now for your own listening enjoyment…
But enough about me, let’s dig into what you came for…this week’s list of Friday Faves.
I hope when this woman is old and smelly, karma comes back and bites her in the butt.
I love reading about other peoples goals and it’s just one reason why this week I started back on this because it has been on my list for wayyyy too long. I went to a meeting, and I’ve been tracking too. I totally took the 4th of July off GRRRRR, so I gotta get back with the program! (who else does it and what are your tips?) Do you want me to do more posts about my progress and maybe even before and afters if I dare?? Email me ([email protected]) and let me know!
and that’s just one more reason why…
I’m doing this 90 days of discipline. I am totally in (even the no alcohol, I think….) so who wants to do it with me???!!
Whoops! These 6 foods could be sabotaging your metabolism.
and…
The nutritionist is in: 6 snacks that are actually good for you.
This kitchen has me wanting to move again. I want mine to be totally opened up just like this one is.
This treehouse for adults is giving me serious Swiss Family Robinson envy! Um, gorgeous.
Plogging: the new fitness trend that makes the world a better place. I guess it that’s what gets you going, then get going.
So even though the 4th of July is over, you’re going to want to save this pie recipe for next year. Totally on point.
OMG, this Vietnamese rice bowl has ALL my favorite flavors. LOVE IT.
and…
This shrimp poke rice bowl for when you just need one more bowl.
This salad is whole dinner approved and keeping my Mediterranean diet tendencies going strong.
SMEACHES! Brilliant!
Sugar-free margaritas? Would they be on the plan? I HOPE SO!
But this iced coffee drink for sure will!
So then I can have another slice of this icebox cake. AFTER my 90 day challenge!
Maybe with these cutest sprinkles to dress it up even more.
Sunday can’t get here fast enough so I can make these for breakfast. (and make extra for Smudge to toast up for the week!)
I seriously never thought I’d be able to make them, but this recipe is making me want to give ’em a try.
This pasta recipe totally works for summer and beyond.
The best ice cream makers…or you could do this hands on DIY way instead.
How to get rid of bad breath naturally.
This is what days at the beach looked like 100 years ago. Love it!
I didn’t read any of these June must-read books but July is looking promising.
What to do if you’re feeling behind in work. What? You talkin’ to me Willis?
I’m sorry, but no.
These are the best baby shower gifts to last a lifetime.
5 ways to DIY all of the biggest jean trends. My Ali Smudge is gonna be all over these.
Love this dress, it’s so flowy but looks so comfortable.
I get asked about my necklace all the time, but I can’t remember where I got it, but these are really close.
Okay, that’s it! I’ll be back with more good eats next week but until then, have a grand weekend and get in the kitchen to cook something good!

There is a reason why I bought a Mac, it was not to be one of the cool kids that wanted the best of the best. No it was because of the music production I do on it. Hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac copying, pasting, moving, deleting, hour after hour just beating on my Mac in a endless assault to get my work done. That is the key part, my work. I work from home, it is great, but even if it is from home it is still work and it still needs to get done. So my Mac, I have it because it is fast, gets the job done and comes back for more.
But what happens when it doesn’t want to do those things anymore?
I move around massive amounts of information and yes even on the almighty Mac this can cause a problem after a while. Things fragment, programs get corrupted issues come up. My light speed Mac slows down to a crawl and all of the sudden I simply can not get any work done. Because I work from home there is no IT guy to call and ask to come fix it. No instead I have to figure out what is wrong. I am lucky, I did, but not after trying everything under the sun first and wasting countless hours looking for one program that can do what I needed instead of ten programs. One program to lead them all….okay that was a lame Lord of the rings reference, but that program was/is Detox My Mac. A simple to use program that did not just fix my issues, it put my Mac on overdrive again. A few clicks and my Mac was clean and ready to rock and roll again.

Love your Friday Finds series, but so not a fan of WW. As someone who is recovering from a 17-year-long battle with anorexia, it’s mind-boggling to me that diets that prescribe eating disordered behaviors are so normalized. I wish that I had grown up in a world where women are accepting of their body size and treat themselves with kindness instead of deprivation and shame. When you get tired of the dieting bandwagon, I highly suggest giving the Intuitive Eating book and workbook a look-see. Christy Harrison and Laura Thomas PHD are also two great resources. I just wanted to offer a gentle nudge towards a different way of viewing bodies and food. It looks like you had a wonderful 4th with your beautiful family which, of course, is the most important thing!
