Happy Friday friends!
In This Post
Only one more week before the jolly fat man makes his rounds (no! that was NOT me dressed in a Santa suit) and the last-minute-how-am-I-ever-going-to-get-everything-done-panic is surely setting in.
Gifts to wrap. Gifts to BUY! Desserts to make. Parties to attend. It’s the merry merriest time of the year!
Right? Right? Please tell me I’m right!
It’s all going to be one wonderful celebration for us because it FINALLY SNOWED! It’s a winter wonderland in Utah and Zoee the dog thinks its the best thing since tennis balls. Because that’s all she does. Drop her ball in snow. Dig for ball in snow. Play keep away with herself in snow.
She’s easily entertained.
Last week we headed to the mountains to take full advantage of our winter weather and first of the season skiing. If you haven’t skiied in Utah yet, you need to put it on your list. As they’ve said since I was little, and the truth still holds, it’s the best snow on earth.
First stop, Deer Valley Resort for a weekend of skiing with my babes.
My husband and I were celebrating our 23rd anniversary (I know! Right??) and let me give anyone out there who is thinking about getting married at Christmas time because it’s the most magical time of the year…Don’t.
Saturday was International Women’s Ski Day so my man jumped into the game with his honorary ovaries. It’s what happens when you live in a house full of girls.
I’ve been waiting all summer to try the new Bald Mountain Pho served in the Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley. SOOOO GOOD! Wagyu Beef or Tofu and Mushrooms. Word on the street is to mix the mushroom broth with the wagyu beef. I can’t divulge my sources but I’m trying it next time.
We checked into our condo at Lodges at Deer Valley, and how nice of them…they put a tree up just for us. No. I’m kidding. We all shared! But Smudge did do a number on their complimentary cookies and hot chocolate. Wiped them out. That’s my girl.
My mission was to head to Main Street one of the nights to check out the Christmas lights. Perfection in the mountains is what I call it.
Next up, I dropped the fam off at home and went solo to meet up with a few local bloggers and a few who were visiting from out of state for skiing and dining at Solitude Mountain Resort.
It was our biggest snow storm in decades and for some reason I decided to take on that snowy canyon with nary a wince. A few white knuckles, but no wincing. All wheel drive and I think I’m wonder woman. That day I was.
We snowshoed to the world renowned Dining at the Yurt for an amazing dinner of scallops, pheasant and a chocolate bomb I’m still relishing.
Good thing my snow pants still buttoned up because then it was back to the slopes and THE BEST POWDER I’VE EVER SKIIED! It was like skiing on powdered sugar. Or instant potato flakes. That might be a more applicable association for a food blog, right?
What a way to start the season. Cheers to the holidays!
But enough about me, let’s get over to this week’s Friday Faves.
This roasted veg pasta would even make meat-eaters pick up a fork and dive in.

While I’m constantly swooned during the holiday season by cookies, cakes and candies, a girl’s still gotta eat real food! Here are a few main meal goodies I pinned this week that would look great on any holiday dinner table.
Garlic Rosemary Prime Rib Roast with Horseradish Cream
This could very well be my husband’s favorite dinner ever and since we don’t eat like kings every night of the week, perfect for Christmas Eve.
Smoky Oven Baked Salmon With Horseradish Sauce
Because horseradish sauce isn’t just for meat!
Crispy Beer Roasted Turkey
I would never in a million years thought of this. But I’m so glad she did. This looks amazing!

There is a reason why I bought a Mac, it was not to be one of the cool kids that wanted the best of the best. No it was because of the music production I do on it. Hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac copying, pasting, moving, deleting, hour after hour just beating on my Mac in a endless assault to get my work done. That is the key part, my work. I work from home, it is great, but even if it is from home it is still work and it still needs to get done. So my Mac, I have it because it is fast, gets the job done and comes back for more.
But what happens when it doesn’t want to do those things anymore?
I move around massive amounts of information and yes even on the almighty Mac this can cause a problem after a while. Things fragment, programs get corrupted issues come up. My light speed Mac slows down to a crawl and all of the sudden I simply can not get any work done. Because I work from home there is no IT guy to call and ask to come fix it. No instead I have to figure out what is wrong. I am lucky, I did, but not after trying everything under the sun first and wasting countless hours looking for one program that can do what I needed instead of ten programs. One program to lead them all….okay that was a lame Lord of the rings reference, but that program was/is Detox My Mac. A simple to use program that did not just fix my issues, it put my Mac on overdrive again. A few clicks and my Mac was clean and ready to rock and roll again.
