Fantastic Friday to you!
It was my mom‘s birthday two days ago. Happy birthday Miss P! To celebrate, we went to lunch at her favorite Mexican restaurant with my Aunt Jill and cousin Erin. Over the past two years, the four of us have made an earnest effort at keeping better connected by going to lunch at least once every other month. While my Aunt Jill claims she pretty much raised me (even though my mom will likely dispute this claim) and my cousin Erin is my only girl cousin who has lived close, as the years went on we didn’t see one another very often. Everybody has lives to live, you know what I mean?
Now that we’re older and reconnecting, the time we spend together means the world to me. With them, It’s not like I’m at lunch with family. I’m at lunch with friends. Friends who are family, and that is exactly what we all need more of right now.
Making time for others is so important. Texting a friend you haven’t talked to in months. Showing up for your haircut with a pumpkin spice latte for your hair stylist. Leaving a loaf of pumpkin bread on the neighbors doorstep. These small gestures mean big things to others, and really don’t take much time out of your day. But man, do they ever add to it.
So, this weekend, what will you do to make someone else’s day? I’m not sure what I will do, but I’m going to make something happen.
But before you get busy doing your good-feeling deeds, check out this week’s list of Friday Faves.
From the department of Feel Good Friday Faves: The story of this dog’s final bucket list item being checked off before she passed was first reported on our local news, and is now going viral. People can be so awesome. When I first saw the story I was in tears. And now, here I go again.

My winter prep:
- I ordered this hand and lip cream duo, making me combat-dry-winter-skin ready.
- Using this peel 2X per week is making my face feel as soft as a baby’s bum. And it’s so frigging cheap!
- My office is a room that is all windows, so in the winter, it can get chilly. I picked up this totally cozy plush jacket and am now ready for blogging my way thru the cold. I bought it at Costco but it’s HALF the price on Amazon.
