Hey hey, and happy Friday!
I’m guessing I’m not the only one LOVING all the sweet flavors of tomato season. The sad part is, it will quickly be coming to an end. And I am.not.ready. So for now, I’m topping everything, including my cottage cheese and toast, with thick, juicy slices of ‘mater love all.day.long.
I came across an article that states about 50% of Americans don’t use their vacation time (time they can’t rollover and save). I used to be that person. I took pride in the fact I worked late. I banked vacation hours. I was a martyr. I looked at others who took all their vacation days as some sort of slackers who weren’t as dedicated as I was.
Man, that was dumb.
This past year and a half has been weird. It’s been harder to take a vacation. But if anything good has come from it, work culture is changed. The value on taking time for ourselves to rejuvenate is becoming more paramount. And I’m the first in line to agree.
This week I’m on a lake with no cell or internet service, so I hope this post goes up without a hitch. But if it doesn’t, just know I’m not playing the martyr anymore. I’m just playing and relishing every minute of it :).
With that, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves. XO

5 things I always take with me when I go on vacation where I’m cooking in a different kitchen:
- A sharp chef’s knife because rental kitchen knives always suck
- This cheap cutting board that I have multiples of, because it’s lightweight and the surface won’t ruin my knife
- These tongs, because they cook, grill, toss, and serve
- My fave kitchen towels, because you always run out and who wants to do laundry on vacation?
- Kosher salt. Because if you have salt, you have flavor no matter what.
