Hello! And happiest of Fridays.
July is vacation month and we just returned from a week in Oregon and let me say, it was awesome getting away and exploring the PNW. Oregon’s restrictions lifted just last week so many restaurants and shops were yet to hit full speed, but just being out and about in new territory is what this adventurer has been craving.
Luckily, on one of our last nights of the trip we were hosted for dinner by my blogging friends Sandy and Lori who made us a home cooked meal with this summer salad and this amazing greens and berry salad too. Nothing like friends and fellowship and home cooked food. What a way to end our tour.
Now, we’re back home and ready for visitors! After a 1 ½ year absence, we’re finally going to be seeing my sister and her family! And for the first time in maybe forever, I had a spike of inspiration and instigated an extended family reunion. I’m very excited to see aunts and uncles and cousins I haven’t seen in forever, but also a little nervous because guess who volunteered to do the food? Yep, #handraisedhigh.
I’ll share my reunion potluck menu in a future Friday Faves, but until then, I gotta get busy researching what it’s going to be. I’m all about making it easy and prepping ahead so I have the most time possible to play and visit instead of cook and serve. We’ll see how that all works out :).
If you have any favorite recipes or ideas for what to serve at a potluck or reunion, PLEASE share them in the comments below. I know I’m not the only one out there who will be interested.
So without further adieu, here’s this week’s list of Friday Faves.

Re: Family Reunion: We host many Cook-Outs & other events throughout the year. In our LARGE crowd of family & friends, we made a pact from the onset, which lifts a huge burden from the hosts. Each family which attends brings either a side dish or a dessert. (The guests decide which dishes they’ll bring among themselves). The hosts do the ‘Mains’ (whichever meats ‘might’ be served, ….Steaks, Chicken, Ribs, Burgers, Hot Dogs, etc., along w/beer, liquor, set-ups, ice, paper plates, napkins, plasticware, & ‘to go’ boxes (I might have left something out). Nevertheless, this method has always worked for our gang through the years, & eliminates a huge burden from the hostess. Everyone loves to bring their favorite dish to share, & many terrific recipes are always exchanged. Give it a try!
