Hey hey and happy Friday!
It’s only the start of May but I’ve already snapped into my summer mindset. That means lots of walking the dogs, roaming about the yard and getting my hands dirty in the dirt, and making the freshly layered sandwiches I’m known for. Extra pickles forever, please!
I’m thrilled that this year I’ll be able to safely spend Mother’s Day with my mama. Our pod has been small and continues to be, but being together with the ones I love makes me extremely grateful for modern science and the public health advocates who are getting us back on track to living the life we’ve so sorely missed these past 14 months. Sacrifices have been huge this past year, but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel makes it worth it.
Now that we are past the threat of a freeze, here in Utah Mother’s Day means it’s time to get planting our gardens and flowers. At our house last spring and summer, we were consumed with a major re-landscaping project. This year, I’m glad to have the dust and dirt settled, and I am 100% ready to enjoy the fruits of our labor. I’m in gardening mode overdrive.
Having my own stock of veggies is so rewarding, and this past year has taught us that self sufficiency is keen. What are you planting this year? Do you have any secrets to share for the best tomatoes, cucumbers, or zucchini, etc? Or great gardening tips in general? If so, let me know! I think I might try the egg in the tomato hole trick for a few of my plants and see what happens.
But first, let’s get our hands dirty with this week’s list of Friday Faves.
