Hello you beautiful people and happy Friday.
Today I’m starting a new habit. It’s not one I’d really planned on or plotted about. In fact it really just came to me as I sat down to write this post.
Each Thursday I wonder what in the world I have to share in this Friday Faves introduction that would be even remotely interesting to anyone. 10% of the time I have stuff. 90% of the time I stare at my blinking curser on the screen, cursing it’s impatience with me because my mind is a blank. Your time is valuable, and so is mine, and I don’t want to bore you because once again I’ve fallen into the trap of spewing about the mundane like talking about how spring has sprung or my how time flies or gee whiz it was a busy week. Bleh.
We’ve been talking about creating habits in this year’s Nourished Planner so maybe that’s why creating habits is top of mind. Or maybe it’s because three of my BFF siblings lost their dad to a heart attack this week. These moments have launched spells of self-reflection, and likely contributed to starting a habit I’ve always intended to ccreate but just never seem to get around to doing.
And it’s an easy habit to start and keep.
Each day I’m going to make a habit of writing down one thing I’m appreciative of. Just one sentence or one line. That way I’m more likely to do it and keep with it.
It’s just a note of one thing that day that made me appreciate my day, my life. It might be something as simple as watching a lady bug crawl across the concrete. Or that my 14 year old spilled the tea about a boy who might like her. Or that I finally reached that milestone I’d been gunning for.
Big or small, I want to look back on all of these reflections and feel the full heart of appreciation every time I read the words all over again.
Small habits domino to form big changes. So each small token of appreciation will surely add up to a lifetime of gratitude.
So take a minute, and think…what are you appreciative of?
Okay, enough about me and my mind boggles, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves. Click away my friends!

Wow! I’ve been working on gratitude, as well. Sometimes it has to be the little things, because life gets tough. Have you read Ann Voskamp’s One Thousand Gifts? Super book about the journey to living gratefully and finding joy.
On Intermittent fasting- I started a month ago, and I am having a really good experience with it. I fast 19 hours and eat for 5. I track my nutrition with myfitnesspal. I feel pretty darn good! Lost a couple pesky winter pounds, quieted my need for all the sugar, and am eating mindfully instead of mindlessly picking constantly.
Oh that skirt is so cute!!! I am so ready to unpack my spring clothes. I’ve been waiting and waiting because as soon as I do that, we will get a huge snowstorm. That’s just the way the universe and I roll.
Thanks again for your Friday faves, this whole lineup is awesome this week!!!

Thanks so much for your comment, Rebekah! I will have to try that book for sure. Congrats on your success with Intermittent Fasting!

What a lovely list of links – thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to try Davida’s oat milk recipe. And ugh intermittent fasting sounds like pure torture! A nutritionist I saw told me to cut out snacks and it was awful – I just ended up hangry and overeating at each meal. I wonder if your body ever gets used to feeling hungry?
Ashley @ Foodie Crush
Hi Alanna! I couldn’t cut out snacks either! I try to eat small meals and small snacks to stay on track then I don’t get that hangry feeling.

love all of the recipes that you’ve shared here. mac n cheese, Mardi Gras king cake, even the lo mein recipe, thank you for all!

Thanks for the gratitude reminder. I try to think of it each day, but writing it down makes a huge difference. I ended up unfollowing a bunch of instagram accounts and kept the ones for positivity like jayshetty; powerofpositivity; or my favorite for inexpensive DIY home decor and keeping it real as a mom of 6: myhouseof8.
We need to keep positive things in our minds to help us be our best and give our best to others. Thanks for sharing your great things.
