Hello hello and happy Friday!
How much do you love this newspaper snippet above that I discovered in my grandma’s vintage-from-wayback-forever cookbook. Proof that boys will be boys and if only pleasing hungry eaters were this easy. Not to mention the “rumpus room” and cocktail parties. Man, they had it GOING ON back in the day! It’s just one of this week’s faves.
Another fave is my Smudge on repeat for the past week, letting me know that there’s only one more Monday ’til SUMMMMMMER! And that leaves me with justtwo questions:
a) Can summer get here any faster?
and
b) Where in the h-e-doubletoothpicks has this year gone already?
I swear it was just weeks ago when I shared my January intentions with every intention (no pun intended) to record and report each month. And now here we are, nearly 6 months later and I’ve dropped the ball once again. What do you think? Are you interested in tracking our intentions together? Email me at [email protected] and let me know!
On another note, I rec’d an amazing note on Instagram stories from an online friend who has become a long-distance friend IRL too. Going back again to earlier this year, I shared on my Instastories the prep for my colonscopy, you know, that delicious drink you have to drink that I shared wasn’t nearly as bad as everyone says it is. (seriously, it isn’t!)
Long story short, my Instastory prompted my friend to get a colonscopy herself. And guess what? She messaged me on Wednesday that they caught a polyp that was a slow growing cancer, that she had surgery on Monday, and they’re confident they caught it all.
Moral of the story: If you’re ever hesitant to share a sort of personal story, but you know if you do it just might help someone else who could be going through the same thing, don’t hesitate. Don’t not share. We all want to learn from one another. We trust our friends, and what we all say, and that’s why we are all here on this good green earth, to help one another.
So on this gorgeous almost-summer Friday, think about this one thing: Who will you help today?
As always, I love you guys, even though I have no idea who you are or what your shiny faces look like, but regardless, thanks for being here.
What Went Up This Week…
This week’s culinary creations included:
- This Tuscan tuna and white bean salad is loaded with awesome Mediterranean flavors and is so easy for a light and healthy lunch or dinner.
- Asparagus and goat cheese are a match made in flavor heaven, especially in this springy frittata, which also features mushrooms and green onions. Enjoy it for breakfast/brunch, or serve it alongside a nice green salad for lunch or dinner.
But now let’s dive into this week’s Friday Faves!
THE BEST MAGAZINE COVER EVER.
I’ve had no less than three people this week tell me I need to watch this. What have I been waiting for??!!
And Smudge is binge watching this and man, it is taking me back to when I’d spend all day Saturday and Sunday bingeing replays on MTV (remember when they did that?) of this classic teen angst. And I’m totally gonna do it again with Smudge. #mostfavoriteever
