Hello friends and happy, happy Friday.
So the other day it hit me. Guys, we are mere days away from November. NOVEMBER PEOPLE! How in the world did this happen?
Just a few days ago, maybe even mere minutes, I was prepping my garden beds for lil’ ol’ sprouts of tomaters and the bounty they would surely yield. Finally. My crop would be plentiful! We got new soil. We put in the drip system. Okay, he did, and I loved him for it. And then…phhhhfffffttttt. Tomato crop ala crappola.
Now…it’s over. They’ve all withered and died and are past their prime and beyond the time to be pulled from their plots. In fact, I’ve been researching soil testing kits since this years tomato crop sucked. So once again this year I need to decide, like every year for the past 9 years, whether to plant tomatoes with once again fingers crossed or let my soil lay fallow to regenerate.
But, what am I doing? You don’t care about all this nonsense. Tending to the garden is soooo last summer. Now, it’s time for lazy weekends with brunchy french toast and slow cooker chili, fall sweaters that wrap you up like a blanket, and all the pumpkin scented candles—this one is my fave.
So if you’re with me, let’s ditch the ‘maters and breathe in the dusky smell of freshly raked fall leaves and fall face first straight into them. Or, let’s just relish in the scent. And then, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves.
Oh, and did I mention it’s HALLOWEEEEEEN?~?!?! Happy boo-time everyone!
Will Ferrell has an important reminder for us. #putyourphoneinthebasket
Reading about this couple and their sweet tradition warmed my heart so much.
Well done, Burger King. #nobullying
and on that note…
Proud of these brave women and so many others who are continuing to come forward and make their voices heard.
Oh my gosh, this movie is gonna be so good. I remember too much of what happened and it was oh so scandalous.
Okay, I realize I may be a little late to the party here, but this guy dresses up in different Carrie Bradshaw outfits, and calls himself Carrie Dragshaw (!), and I’m obsessed.
Foods celebrities hate. What would be on your list?
These stuffed shells are the ultimate cozy dinner, and I want to devour the entire dish.
Can’t wait to make this chicken soup very soon. I have my own rendition, but can you ever have too many?
Truth: apples + pancakes = perfect fall breakfast. These babies should definitely be on your weekend must-make list.
and, speaking of babies…
My love language is this Dutch baby.
This one pan cider-glazed chicken and fall veggies has moved to the to-make list. #sheetpandinnersforthewin
This cookbook is on my list for this year’s top 10, and these breakfast cookies are just one reason why.
These couples Halloween costumes are everything. Love them all.
Don’t have your costume yet? Don’t worry, here are 10 easy last minute ideas that are pretty punny.
And don’t forget the kiddos. The avo toast is killing me.
But remember, no one does Halloween like Heidi Klum.
But wait, there’s more. Here are the best Halloween movies on Netflix. Are you brave enough to watch any of them by yourself?
And have you guys listened to this super creepy podcast yet? I’m totally hooked!
I’ve gotta say this Halloween candy ranking (from bad to worst) is pretty spot on.
But why eat mediocre candy when you can make your own? These look to die for.
And while we’re talking sweet stuff…
I freaking LOVE this Halloween twist on a charcuterie platter. NAILED IT!
Five tempting fall treats I’m craving:
- Butternut Squash Cupcakes with Toasted Marshmallows
- Fudgy Dirty Chai Dark Chocolate Brownies
- Malted Pretzel Millionaire’s Shortbread
- Pumpkin, Olive Oil and Dark Chocolate Cake
- Burnt Butter Pear + Apple Crumble
Luuuuuuving this ultimate fall to-do list. The thank you note to a your best friend’s parents is the best.
As we near closer to the season of giving, it’s important to know the things food banks really need.
If you’re a fan, you could probably listen to Jake Gyllenhaal reading poetry all day long…
This is one seriously patient photographer!
Can’t. wait. for. this. book! #imissobama
Who else needs this hanging wall planter in their home (or like 10 of them)!
Also, this pretty little table runner is on my wish list. Basically, I’m obsessed with everything from Target’s new Project 62 line.
And for all you Magnolia lovers, this new line is right up your alley.
This cutting board is so cool. (But truth be told, the first time I saw the photo I thought it was an iPhone case!)
Thinking this cozy piece might fuel my scarf obsession.
These leggings are the loveliest color.
I have a feeling I’ll be living in this comfy cardigan for the next few months (and you can’t beat that price)!
Loving this sweater and its neckline.
What a pretty top. Love those sleeves!
Really digging the color of this nail polish (so fall).
How cool is this hair clip?

Thanks for these great ideas. You do provide some really delicious and easy-to-prepare recipes that are really useful for those with a hectic schedule. What I’ve actually found very useful is to hire the services of a personal chef, who ensures that my family and I get wholesome and delicious meals with minimal time and effort required from me. And with Thanksgiving round the corner and a family get-together on the cards, I can cater the entire meal without it feeling like a restaurant take-out.

I always look forward to Friday faves. Thanks for not disappointing. November is here already!!!

I’m sad about my garden too (no more fresh tomatoes boohoo) but I’ve been busy harvesting my chili crop to dry some and freeze the rest so I can have amazing chili through the colder winter months to keep me warm inside! Great post Heidi, loved it!
