Hello there, we’re here and it’s Friday Faves!

Well, it looks like (and tastes like) this mushroom quiche is proof that my homemade pie crust recipe can be frozen for over 6 months and still taste flaky and delicious. I discovered this while cleaning out the freezer and nearly threw this pie crust away three times before deciding, why not? Hey, just give it a bake and make a quick quiche. I used my quiche lorraine recipe but subbed shiitake mushrooms and shallots for the bacon and onion. My oh my, it was a goooood one! The filling was divine, and the crust was flaky and tender. I’m not saying it was as good as a freshly made crust, nor would I recommend waiting that long to freeze it, but, in a pinch, it definitely worked. And I will for sure be using it again for my Thanksgiving pie!
This year in particular, there are a whole lot of people in need of your generous food donations for the holidays. However, that expired jar of mystery sauce shoved to the depths of your cupboard may not be someone else’s cup of tea either. Here’s a list of what food pantries wish you’d stop donating, plus the top 8 donated items to a food bank that will truly be put to good use. And anything with a pull-tab opener is a bonus. Give and ye’ shall receive!

One of my favorite food bloggers and her husband are from Japan and often visit their homeland. So often, in fact, everyone asks them for travel advice on where to go, what to do, and especially where to eat. So they started another blog, this time a Japan travel blog with so much detail, including a totally comprehensive itinerary for the first-time traveler to Japan. I’ll definitely be using it to plan (hopefully) my summer trip!
And, the Japanese-inspired way to wrap gifts. Love.
One of my favorite Instagram accounts is this one, where this volunteer promotes shelter animals available for adoption. Her videos are so sweet! We can all make a difference! Anyway, this week she shared this dry shampoo for animals that she said smells so good, and I thought would be a great stocking stuffer for my Zoee for her in-between groomings. The smell is what intrigued me, but the packaging sold me.
