Hello friends and Happy Friday Faves!
And even better, happy first week of spring. However, depending on where you live (hello East Coast USA!) you may still be digging with your snow shovels rather than your gardening hoes. But rest assured, soon enough all of that will change, spring will fly by and summer’s sun will be warming our bones.
First I want to thank everyone who emailed me in response to last week’s Friday Faves where I gave away 100 copies of my Nourished Planner. I’m still responding to your emails so if you haven’t received my reply yet, you will! And for those first 100 responders, your planners will be going in the mail next week.
Man you guys are great. I LOVED receiving your responses when I asked how your week was going.
It’s encouraging to know that we truly are all the same, with good days and bad, but realizing there’s always a better day ahead. I’m glad to know we’re all in this literal life boat together, with compassion, thoughtfulness and tools to get us all through.
Last weekend we took a quick weekender getaway to Deer Valley Resort where we skied in a snowy spring dump and the best snow of the whole year, and where for the first time in my life were on first chair (basically the first group of skiers) before anyone else made it on the slopes.
Even though we only live 20 miles away from the resort, we’d never have made that first chair if we hadn’t been generously hosted by The Montage Deer Valley who made our weekend a winter wonderland getaway.
The Montage is a ski-in ski-out luxury hotel that sits smack dab at the base of Empire Canyon at the top of Deer Valley Resort. It’s where I channelled my inner Mariah Carey’s royalness when we stayed at The Montage last year after I won a stay at a charity event. It was for my 50th birthday weekend, one I’ll never forget and will likely never match in it’s celebrity either.
This year’s stay included spa time, dinner at Deer Valley’s epic Fireside Dining (all the melted raceltte cheese please!), an incredible dinner at Montag’es Apex where we feasted on a Tomahawk steak for two, lobster risotto and fresh Wild King Salmon with the sides of truffled Mac and cheese and Boursin creamed potatoes of course, and sharpening my pool game skillz with my forever boyfriend husband.
But the highlight of our Montage stay was the invitation to experience sipping bubbly rosé champagne in the Veuve Cliquot yurt, where you click off your skis and walk straight from the snowy ski hill into a luxe, hipster cabin-vibed tent that is above and beyond any tent I’ve ever been in.
There, it’s all about unbuckling those boots while reclining on comfy couches in front of the fireplace to enjoy sips of Veuve Cliquot bubbles and bites of chili and brats.
I had no idea that it was Veuve Cliquot who 200 years ago were the originators of how to make rosé. And favored bubbly sippers across the world rejoiced!!
I know…I know! it IS a rough life! And I’m totally spoiled and completely lucky and trying to enjoy every single second of it because who knows what tomorrow may bring. Because one day I may have a job as a skiing mascot. But I have a feeling I could get on board with that.
But enough about me, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves.

There is a reason why I bought a Mac, it was not to be one of the cool kids that wanted the best of the best. No it was because of the music production I do on it. Hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac copying, pasting, moving, deleting, hour after hour just beating on my Mac in a endless assault to get my work done. That is the key part, my work. I work from home, it is great, but even if it is from home it is still work and it still needs to get done. So my Mac, I have it because it is fast, gets the job done and comes back for more.
But what happens when it doesn’t want to do those things anymore?
I move around massive amounts of information and yes even on the almighty Mac this can cause a problem after a while. Things fragment, programs get corrupted issues come up. My light speed Mac slows down to a crawl and all of the sudden I simply can not get any work done. Because I work from home there is no IT guy to call and ask to come fix it. No instead I have to figure out what is wrong. I am lucky, I did, but not after trying everything under the sun first and wasting countless hours looking for one program that can do what I needed instead of ten programs. One program to lead them all….okay that was a lame Lord of the rings reference, but that program was/is Detox My Mac. A simple to use program that did not just fix my issues, it put my Mac on overdrive again. A few clicks and my Mac was clean and ready to rock and roll again.
