Happy Friday my friends, and happy birthday to me!
In This Post
Unless you’re turning a first grader who simply cannot wait to share with the world that he’s turning another year older, it’s not really a common thing to announce that it’s almost your birthday.
Nowadays, we tend to keep our traps shut in hopes no one will try to organize that awkward birthday lunch at work or look at you with skepticism when they check your ID at the wine store and you JUST KNOW they’re judging the streaks of gray showing already.
Instead, we secretly stalk our Facebook page looking for well-wishes from people we haven’t seen in years and acquaintances we barely even know, or play the stoic birthday girl who tries to mask the not-so-secret disappointment when the birthday flowers don’t arrive at the door.
But at this stage in the game, you all probably know me better than most of them do anyway, so why not share in a little early celebrating together! :) and let’s just make sure it involves German Chocolate Cake.
This years festivities will be way lower key than last year’s turn of the half-century mark where I celebrated pretty much all year long by taking advantage of some amazing travel opps to some amazing places. Because hey…I’m healthy enough and mindful enough to enjoy it now, so why wait?
It’s Time to Live What You Love
Enjoying life is where I’m at right now, or at least trying to create the space and flow to do so. Last week I shared my goals for a morning routine along with my monthly intentions list.
So how’s it going? Well…My morning routine is coming along (journaling has been my FAVE thing to do each day and exercise is making a comeback) but let’s just say I need to create a little more time to make the things on my intentions list happen. But I’m determined to make it so.
This week’s challenge in my Nourished Planner is to create a frivolous happiness list: a list of ideas/projects/things that simply make you happy and add one or two to your day so the must-dos are balanced with the want-to-dos.
I created my list earlier this week and oddly, it started to look an awfully like a mixture of my to-do list and my intentions list. But what I realized is that striking things off my to-do list actually DOES make me happier and this is my strategy for making it happen.
on that note…
