Hello and Happy Friday!
Social media has been through the ringer and I’m not sure where I land on it. But if you’ve been looking for a good reason to keep up with your Instagram feed, this account might be it. Featuring feel-good, real-life stories of the most unique people doing unique things, it’s one escape that feels worth it.
I played pickleball for the first time last week and as a life-long fan of playing Smashball on the beach and winning my 9th grade paddleball championship alongside my BFF (who accidentally knocked out my front tooth when we made the winning shot), I knew I would be a convert. I played with a friend who is going through some life shifts and suggested she order this book to help along her journey. I got to read a preview and can vouch it’s going to help so many people who need a gentle guide.
This 102-year-old woman offers some perspective on aging. I love her and love this. And yes, I am a bit obsessed with aging with positivity. Can you tell? :)
This week we saw this indie movie (it was shot in just 18 days). The message was heartfelt, and on point, and I cried twice. Pammy was awesome and should have been a nominee for the 2025 Oscars announced yesterday. Disappointing for her and others who were snubbed.
Speaking of great performances, this guy does amazing impersonations and his Anthony Bourdain (at Costco!) is hilarious and so good it’s scary.
So many restaurants in Los Angeles, North Carolina, and beyond have stepped up in the wake of climate change devastation, but who is supporting them? This is a great piece on the importance of taking care of your local restaurants and how you can show up for them when they do so much for us.
And here are some great ways you can help keep struggling L.A. restaurants afloat.
Here are the 2025 James Beard Award Semifinalists. Salt Lake City represents (!!!) for Outstanding Restauranteur, Outstanding Bar (yes! in Utah!), Outstanding Hospitality, Outstanding Bakery Chef or Baker (with a location at the SLC airport for layovers), and Best Chefs in the Mountain Region here, here, here, and here.

- I love my cast-iron braiser for so many millions of recipes and it’s half off.
- And this is my go-to Dutch oven. I have it in several sizes for every job.
- I love, love, love this knife because it isn’t too big or too small, making it perfect for every chopping project.
- Invest in this stock pot and you’ll never be sorry. I use it to cook pasta but I like it even better for cooking chicken stock so I can strain the bones and veg by pulling out the insert easy peasy.
