Hello and happy Friday!
We had some friends over for dinner last weekend who we hadn’t seen in what seemed like forever. I was feeling a bit rusty because it’s been so long since we’d cooked for more than just us, but ah, it felt good! I kept it super simple and light with this main, this Greek salad, this bean salad, and this rice and it was all super delicious. Such a good reminder that you don’t have to go overboard when entertaining, you just have to make a point to get together!
This weekend I have b-ball fever, not only for the men but more so for the women’s NCAA Final Four basketball teams. Talk about some serious phenom power. Go Stanford! Wow, these women ballers are GOOD and deserve every bit as much notoriety as the men’s division. And, have you heard about this 19 year-old soccer player (who probably inherited her tenacity from her famous dad) who scored as the highest-paid female soccer player in the National Women’s Soccer League?
So there was a lot to unpack from the Oscars this year, and some history-making moments were sadly overshadowed. Actress Ariana Debose just made history as the first openly queer woman of color to win an Oscar for her performance in West Side Story. And actor Troy Kotsur also made history as the first deaf actor to win an Oscar for acting. Coda was SUCH a good movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, do it.
