Hello and happy Friday!
Oh what a good week it was. Make that two weeks. We had our first vacation in over a year, and it was simply wonderful. Lots of good food like spicy tuna hand rolls nearly every day on the beach, plus sand, surf, the drive to Hana (and we didn’t get divorced!) butterfly gardens, aquarium watching, and good old fashioned R&R.
Getting away from the same-old same-old was much needed, and for once in my life, I didn’t think once about work. What an incredibly odd sensation. What a release! Is this what retirement feels like? Because if it does, I’m all for it :).
I’m back home now and feeling inspired to get at it and get cooking in the kitchen. Vacations are another reminder that taking time for one’s self is incredibly important in keeping the internal flames burning. After the year we’ve had, I’m pretty sure most everyone will agree they’ve learned that same lesson in one way or another.
But enough dawdling here. Let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves. Happy weekending!

“It’s time to make a compost” This was something a friend of mine convinced me to do several years back, and I have not regretted it. I have my own source of fertilizer right in my backyard. Everyone should have a compost pit!

We got away last week too just though to see our son in Oregon. It had been 2 years since since we traveled and those of us who can afford to do this should realize what a gift and how incredibly lucky we are. Most people can’t fly to locales like that, especially during a pandemic. I am spending a lot of my free time volunteering these days to have a more meaningful, purpose-filled life in hopes I am giving back for the good fortune that I have.
