Hello and happy Friday!
Next weekend we’ll be celebrating Halloween, and what a totally weirdo Halloween it will be. The parties, the pumpkin patches, hay rides, and the haunted houses are all looking and feeling a whole lot different this year. We live on a steep hill so we don’t get many trick or treaters, and this year, I’m not counting on many, if any, at all.
I’m ready to move on. From so many things.
Halloween has been a test run for how to celebrate holidays in these oh-so different times. While travel will be less, and gatherings smaller, I’m hopeful Thanksgiving and Christmas will be festive and safe for all of us. It’s so hard to think of the holidays without sharing the best turkey, the tree trimming, and the traditions with those we love, as we have, for years. This year, things will be more modest, and we’ll make do with less. Having, doing, and seeing less.
We’re all making sacrifices, and will continue to do so, but that doesn’t mean we can’t feel and spread joy this holiday season. I heard a report that parents this year are making an even bigger effort to make the holidays special for children this year. I think we should all follow suit, and make it special for everyone.
BTW, I’m thinking of putting up my Christmas tree next weekend. Too soon? :)
But first, let’s get into this week’s list of Friday Faves. Click on crouton.

Hi Melissa, the photo is of some store bought cookies I enjoyed at lunch. You can find my recipe for pumpkin cookies here — I think they’re even better than the store bought.
