Happy Fri-fri to the TGIF! Another week down the drain and I for one and a happy camper to see it happen. And now, I need your help friends.
In This Post
See, I’m a fan of my Friday Faves. And I hear from you guys that you like it too. But each week I’m in flux with how to write it up. I go back to old posts and see things that I like, and things that I don’t. And then I get all flummoxed again. Flummoxed I tell you. Flummoxed.
So, I need your help. Because in the end, I’m doing this for both of us.
We should both be happy don’t you think?
Do you want to see it with more photos interwoven into my list? I used to do it that way, like in this Friday Fave post.
Do you want more story about the stuff I like and why? That’s usually what I like on other blogs but I may just be nosy.
Or do you just want to get in and out and get straight to the meat of the matter with really short links like the way I did it in this Friday Faves post?
Or should I just stop dwelling over it and just keep it the way it is now?
So please…please…I beg of you, for the love of all foodies, leave a comment in the notes below about how you’d like to see your future Friday Faves so I don’t bore you to death and I’ll be able to cancel my appointment to see a head dr. for my head case.
Last week I posted March’s 5 Food Blogs I’m Following Now, but if you missed it, check it out here, and while you’re at it, visit February’s list. I’ll be posting these the first Friday of every month. I love discovering new blogs, and apparently, you do too. Thanks for reading!
So who is ready to get outside and dig in the dirt? Me! I’m a gardener, but usually get my plants from the nursery. Or the grocery store because I get reward points. BONUS!
The last few gardening years have been nothing but dismal. Pure dismal. It’s gone downhill with each year we’ve lived in this house.
I don’t even have pics of last year except for the virgin plants that didn’t get much bigger than this. It was so sad.
So I’m either giving up the garden, or I’m thinking about getting out my trowel and starting things indoors with this guide. The jury’s still out.
How cute is this print for the kitchen and your favorite ice cream lover.
If you’re a blogger, this is THE ONE LINK you have to check out. So much great info in there and actual, real-life usable tips and tricks. Go figure.
Out with the old in with the new so let’s spring clean! I LOVE this closet makeover. Look how they organized the purses!

I know you have just as much e-mail junk mail as me. This site is THE BEST. It unsubscribes you from any of those annoying daily / weekly e-mails you’re always just hitting delete on.
Cute! These wordplay plates are so punny—ha—for the entertaining cook.
This essay by J-Law’s bestie about being her date at the Oscars was such a fun read and put my celebrity stalker tendencies into overdrive. Can you even imagine actually living this quote of hers:
“After the show we go backstage where I meet Brad and Angelina. Brad Pitt smells amazing, like nothing I’ve ever smelled. Eventually we ask what cologne he’s wearing and he tells us, “I don’t wear cologne, it’s just my musk I guess.” I have to choose not to believe him because it would just be unfair to mankind.”
I would die.

MySpace is still alive? Go figure X 2.
If I could, I would LIVE in this Pinterest board. Everything, EVERYTHING is perfectly my dream style.

I love this guide—and the cuteness—of how and what to pack for Paris with just a carry-on. Or any food conference where you gotta look cute. Man, I need to go shopping.
The perfect boiled egg, at every stage. I like em really soft for ramen, but perfectly boiled for the perfect egg salad. Find out how to do it here.
I love stripes, hence, how much do I love this summery tote!
The best typefaces of 2013. Noe Display and Post Grotesk are in my future.
My husband thought you guys would like this. Do you? Cute of him to share, right?
so…
I should probably buy him these to reward him. Well, and me, kind of. I love the gold rims.
Hate kids? Or maybe they’re just being really, really naughty? Show them who’s boss when you take them here to play.
It’s a feather. It’s gold. It’ll look great on my wrist.
10 old fashioned dating habits we all should make cool again. Like pick up the phone and make a call instead of text? Word.
So I’m working on getting my e-newsletter going, and moving my RSS feed and then I read this and get all confused again. Does it matter or not? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I told you about this seasonal produce guide in yesterday’s salad post, but it deserves another look if you missed it. Download it!
Breakfastize It
This weekend I won’t be home to make brunchy breakfasts and boozey brunches—you can voyeur along with me on Instagram when you follow me here—so I’m leaving you with instructions to take over in my stead.
With that, here are a few breakfast baking ideas from food blogs this week to get you on your way. Oh, and one healthy drink to prep you come Monday morning.
The Best Gluten-free and Vegan Cinnamon Rolls
I’m still scared of making cinnamon rolls. Yep, I’m a CR virgin. But, this recipe includes a step by step guide to proofing yeast that just might get me on my way. Recipe here.
Peanut Sugar Morning Buns
Or you could go with these ginormous that are promised to be delivered in just two folds and in under two hours. How does she make it happen? Go check it out to find out. Recipe here.
Crispy Coconut French Toast with Sour Cherries
Whoa mama. Stuuunnning. And my favorite coconut flavor that I might have to add a chocolate chip or two just to get my full dose of favorite Almond Joy flavors. Recipe here.
French Toast Bagels
So maybe you don’t want to sit to eat your french toast. That makes these portable holed up breads the perfect alternative. Honey cream cheese here I come. Recipe here.
Apple Cinnamon Pancake
This is like dessert for breakfast. And that’s what weekends are made for, to be the most popular foodie in the house. Recipe here.
Miss Green Smoothie
Smudge calls it her green machine. I call it the only way to get her to eat leafy veggies other than lettuce dipped in ranch. You’ll call it deliciously healthy in one big slurp. Recipe here.
Have a great weekend friends and happy eating!

Heidi – keep up the Friday lists! They are great and you find the best stuff out there. Happy Sunday!
Cara's Healthy Cravings
I like how you have the links shortlisted in this post, with a little bit of an intro sentence and the link woven in there.
Cinnamon Apple Pancake!! Mmmm!

Hi
Please use more photos interspersed with each item you write about.
Love your blog and really enjoy your content!!

Heidi, I love your Friday posts. The more photos the better (like the older fave list that you linked). I want to know if I’m really into the item instead of clicking through blindly). Thanks for letting us give our opinions! Have a great weekend.
Cara
Wowzers, how am I just NOW finding this heavenly space? Thank you so much for the cinnamon roll shout-out! I’m feeling all warm and gooey inside now xo
Liz @ FloatingKitchen
I love you’re Friday Faves! I’ve found so many recipes and new bloggers through your posts. I like ’em just the way they are now. Short and sweet with majority of the pictures at the end (when there are too many pictures interspersed in the post I tend to get lost in scrolling!).
Stefanie @ Sarcastic Cooking
I love your Friday faves! I love them every single way you do them!!! I think you keep it fresh, fun, and interesting. And those whiskey glasses!!! I heart them!
Kate @Almond Butter Binge
Friday is my favorite day because of all the link posts! That smoothie needs to get in my mouth right now. It will offset the French toast you’re clearly forcing me to make. :)
Melanie @ Carmel Moments
Awww. That is sad! Don’t give up on the garden. Fresh herbs in the backyard are the best!
Great round-up of recipes. Love that coconut french toast and the green smoothie. Eye-catching for sure!
Cecile
I ‘love ’em’ just they way they are! They’re like getting all kinds of cool information/recipes etc. from a good friend!!
Thanks for the feedback Cecile. I’ll mark you in the leave as is column. Have a great weekend!
Phi @ The Sweetphi Blog
I’m a HUGE proponent and lover of your Friday Faves. I like the posts with pictures and links, but really all of them are great!
On my blog I do a series called 5 Ingredient Fridays where I create a recipe with 5 ingredients or less every Friday…so clearly I’m a lover of the number ‘5’ combined with Fridays :) Thanks for your amazing posts!
Oh great! Thanks for sharing that you do a fave too! I will definitely be over to check it out. XO and thanks for reading!
Flavia
Hi Heidi! Remember me? ;) I’ve been MIA for the last few months, but I’ve tried hard to check in to your blog as often as I can because it’s one of my very, very favorites. I have a few suggestions if you don’t mind my two cents…I *love* your “Friday Faves” posts because I always find something new to bookmark/read/gawk at/pin/swoon over, etc… I think pictures are always great to include if you can/are allowed include them (if they are someone else’s) and I tend to like shorter write-ups (but that’s because I currently have a fried brain that is still trying to recover from 5 months of stress–I know I will always willingly read longer blog posts when my brain is back to normal). One suggestion I do have is for your links to other websites/Pinterest boards, etc. to open up in a new window so that I can still keep your blog website open in its own tab. That’s it from the Italian Peanut Gallery. Sending you love and hugs from Texas. xo Flavia
Hi Flavia, of course I remember you silly. Glad to hear things are settling out for you. Love the suggestions and feedback, thank you for sharing. I often cut and paste the links from Google Drive, where I write the posts and create the links and the open in new window doesn’t work there. I know, it’s so annoying to have to click back in when you’re checking links. So I’ll take the time to go back before I post and make sure they’re working right! XOXO and hope to see you soon!
Angie
I agree with Marissa. I get in and get out with your current list. Perfect!
Thanks ladies for the feedback. Good to know!
Marissa@In My Yellow Cardigan
You’re so welcome! Pinning original links has helped me discover other food blogs. So helpful! You’ve inspired me to do my own Friday posts (name pending: Five Gold Cardigan Posts (like “Four Gold Stars” : )
Marissa@In My Yellow Cardigan
I love the way your Friday Faves are as is right now! I’m in, I pin, I get out!
Thanks Marissa, especially for the pins to the links to the original recipes :)
TJ
I love Friday lists like this, but I don’t find I enjoy it as much on any blog when they are just sentences like, “I couldn’t believe how cute THIS is,” with the “THIS” as a link to something. I hardly ever click through to see what it is. So my preference would be for pictures along with your description of why you like it. I click through then because I’ve seen a teaser of whatever it is. Love the blog though!
Hi TJ, thanks for the feedback. I often feel the same way, but it seems like the links that are the most teaser-ey get the most click throughs. But I don’t know if they’re the most informative. I appreciate your thoughts! I may need to create a hybrid.
Amber K
Yeah that is huge blog pet peeve of mine. I specifically won’t click through because I hate wasting my time. I’d rather have more of an idea if the link will be worth it.
