Hello again, hello. And happy Friday!
Hey, hey, it was my birthday! Thanks those of you who sent big wishes for my big day. It was a busy one, but so good because I got to spend it with the ones I love: Skiing with my man for my birthday tradition; watching the flame of red hair and long arms of my AliSmudge fly up and down the basketball court for the win; then dinner and a Broadway play with my mama.
Seriously. Does it get any better than that?
The only thing better than being spoiled by those I love is that I still have that new year gumption flowing through my veins. And that ‘get-er-done’ spirit is actually kicking in.
This week I cracked down and made some decisions that have been languishing in my to do list. Some of them regarded things I’m adding and some I’m letting go. Working together, they affect my business, personal life, and financial stability.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself it’s that having financial freedom from debt is the most gloriously freeing feeling there is. I’ve seen my paycheck cut, my health care cancelled by my employer, my 401K matching eliminated. That’s when I knew if I was working only for a paycheck, I could create that pay check myself. And so I have.
It brings me a great deal of comfort to save for the rainy day, and know there is money in the bank to buy my umbrella when I need it. I have my dad to thank for that gene, and his wisdom even when I didn’t want to listen to it.
If you’re someone who needs some help stabilizing your finances, start with these simple hacks, or take a deeper action dive with this from one of my favorite bloggers. And make that appointment to get your taxes done now, instead of waiting ’til the week before April 15.
A penny saved is a penny earned. Am I right?
But enough about that, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves.
I shared some video on my Insta stories this week of my new kitchen assistant and his home where he’s growing an herb roof. Come on over and check out my updates on the growing season.
