Hello, hello, and happy Friday!
While I’ve been traveling between lobster mac ‘n cheese (this is my fave recipe) and all the sea urchin I could devour in Santa Barbara, and then coming home to the hospital salad bar back home, my husband has been doing a bang up job keeping the home fires burning, and working on the home itself.
If you’ve been a follower of Friday Faves for very long, you know I love to share the home tours and remodeling links. Probably because home remodeling never seems to end so I’m always getting inspired myself.
We “finished” our 4th buy-the-worst-house-on-the-block-and-make-it-awesome remodel 12 year ago—it’s our dream house and the inspiration for my first, now-expired blog to document the process so we didn’t mind dumping a little extra money into it for the finer finishes.
Now, all these years later, we are finally getting around to finishing up all those finishing details we’ve ignored since our initial guts to glory major endeavor. As will happen, what started out as simply replacing the cheap carpet we initially installed downstairs, has led to another round of revamps.
I saw “we” are doing the work where in reality it’s all my man. He’s a jack of all trades. And dreaming, and designing and remodeling is one of our favorite past times. I say dreaming because we are dreaming of the day when it is all finally done and done.
And then, as things typically go, we’ll probably find our next dream house and start all over again.
But until then, if ever, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves. Enjoy!

When I’m looking for a special meal for Blake and me, I’m going to make that lobster mac & cheese – it looks PERFECT. I had no idea your house was once the worst house on the block…I want to see more!!

Heidi – Just reading through your Lobster Mac and Cheese recipe (which sounds terrific!!) and I have two questions. First, how many will the recipe serve – 6-8? Second, at the end of step 3, it says “Lower the heat to and cook for about 10 minutes, whisking occasionally.” I’m guessing low, since you don’t want to burn the sauce, right?
Thanks – El

I feel you about home things never feeling done. We moved into our home a year ago when I was 9 months preggo and I had ALL these ideas…um yeah, we’re just getting around to hanging some photos, I just got them printed, so major win? Now I just need to buy more frames. It’s an ever evolving process.
I use the same concealer – it’s amazing!
Also, LOVE the site updates here on Foodie Crush. I came looking for a recipe yesterday (made your Thai shrimp) and loved the ease of finding it!
Have a great weekend!
