Happy Friday my friends!
Wow. What a week of firsts.
In This Post
Along with getting back to photographing some gorgeous food for one of my favorite clients, Deer Valley Resort. Their new chef at the Brass Tag restaurant is totally rocking a new menu, including Thanksgiving dinner with dishes like this Chorizo, Caramelized Onion and Cheese Pizzette—where he makes everything himself, including the chorizo—there were some serious new developments I wasn’t expecting, but totally hoping for.
No. 1) The Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years and I stayed up to watch the ENTIRE game with baited breath (and apparently these fans had serious faith because tattoos are permanent). Best win I’ve seen in professional sports in like, forever.
No. 2) Beyoncé became a bone fide country star in my eyes.
No. 3) And for the first time in our history together, my man and I voted by mail. Because HELLO people, at this stage of this crazy game, every vote counts. I honestly can’t believe the election process will be over in just 5 days. Or will it?
If I were one of the presidential candidates, whether I won or lost, all I’d want to do after the call is soon to be made is to grab a giant slab of this brownie concoction, a bottle of sauv blanc, and then hibernate on the couch under a big cozy blanket (this one is THE BEST) and binge-watch reruns of this.
Ah hell. Forget the brownies. Give me another bottle of wine.
But enough about me and all of my stuff. Let’s get into this week’s Friday Faves!
Halloween may be over, but these college students are still dressing up for the better good. Grab the tissues for this one friends.
On that note, these chefs slayed Halloween—especially Carla Hall, and Martha, of course.
Have you seen this collection of amazingly awkward and adorable videos of the Obamas dancing to “Thriller,” and the Obamas passing out Halloween andy, AND Barack serenading “Purple Rain” to a little boy. They’ve rocked the White House in a big way.
Who’s with me? –> this apple cider caramel sauce.
For the love of fritters. And I do.
This quick bread has every.single.fall.flavor. in each incredible slice.plus.bacon.beer.cheese.and pumpkin.
Homemade rolls in just 30 glorious minutes? Let’s do this, Thanksgiving!
speaking of bread…
Holy schmoly. This one (is it bread? is it salad?) is blowing my mind.
And I don’t think brussels sprouts have ever looked better.
Because I’m ALWAYS trying to perfect my craft, I’m bookmarking this: The best pie crust recipe.
If you want to rock it like your inner Tom Cruise, these are 6 things you need to know to mix cocktails like a pro. Break out the shaker my friends.
This week my little family was invited to serve dinner at SLC’s Road Home, a shelter for those who are looking to get their world back to normal again. The dinner theme was taco night and we were in charge of dessert and tortillas so it was 2 days of baking 350 brownies to do our part. And I’m not gonna lie, with 350 brownies to bake, brownie mix from this box 100% sealed the delicious brownie making deal.
Like I said on Instagram, after seeing the happy faces of the women, men and children they went to, we’d happily have baked 350 more.
Donating and volunteering is such an integral part of what SHOULD be happening in our society, and something I feel we all need to do more of. Whether it’s donating money, time, goods, services, or any combination of, it’s important for adults to take the lead and show our youth who have all of the freedom, gadgets, clothes and food to eat, that not everyone has it as lucky as they do. Or any of us for that matter. Plus, it’ll make you live longer. So don’t wait. Just do it.
on that note…
What happened after this 4 year old told a man at the grocery store “you’re old” is absolutely priceless, and yes, I’m crying. AGAIN. What a difference a little kindness can make.
which is a shining example of…
“Rather than focus on finding the right friends, concentrate on being the right friend.” What mom’s need to tell middle school kids about friendship. Wise words no matter what age you are.
Rejoicing because new food emojis are on their way (finally)!
SO excited for this movie to come out. Who’s with me? And what else is out there I need to be on the lookout for?
This home is a plant lover’s oasis…
And…
10 gorgeous vases that aren’t really vases. Fun.
If you read one thing this week, make it this powerful and important essay.
31 things your kids should be doing that isn’t homework.. I can hear Smudge fist pumping through her bedroom wall.
23 affordable boots for fall (I’ve already got #16 in my shopping cart).
The ultimate messy bun how-to. Yes, there is a right way.
Just found my party dress for the holiday season.
I’m definitely more of a lip gloss girl rather than lipstick, but after looking at this, I may need to change my ways.
Pretty sure I could hibernate all fall long in this cozy cardigan.
Loving this eye shadow palette. So warm and fall-like.
I want to eat everything with this gorgeous flatware. But then, when don’t I want to eat everything?
Recipes I Pinned This Week
I’ve got comfort food on the brain as we settle into fall, so I’ve pinned some things I think will be staples this season. You should pin them too!
Pumpkin Cider Beer Bread with Bacon and Cheddar
I can’t think of a more appropriate bread to celebrate fall with than this one right here.
Easy Chicken Skillet Pot Pie
The ultimate homey dish, made adorable (and extra delicious) served in an iron skillet.
Spaghetti Squash Lasagna Boats
You don’t have to have all the carbs to have an epic comfort food meal, and this recipe is proof!
