Hello! And happy Friday!
We were in San Francisco for Memorial Day, adventuring and eating our way through my husband’s favorite city. Once again, he’s ready to move there :). We stayed in a great Airbnb near the famous Painted Ladies, the location of everyone’s favorite TV show, Full House. It wasn’t your typical rental, as it was the owner’s residence. It’s an interesting idea. She rented to us, and then went to Mexico for the weekend — a vacation I’m sure that was funded by our rental fee :). Have you ever considered turning your home into an Airbnb? I’m kind of thinking about it, especially during Utah’s ski season. Or when we move to San Francisco :).
A few items I brought back with me from SF (some physically, some just for future reference):
- Our Airbnb had this reed diffuser in several of the rooms, and it was delightful.
- Japantown is one of my fave spots in San Francisco, and that’s where I found this bookmark I had to have.
- There are two things we MUST eat when we’re in SF: Super yummy ramen and the sweetest oysters and clam chowder in the city.
She’s 11 years old and she’s about to graduate from college. And she’s just getting started. Amazing.
I am obsessed with this new-to-me Instagram account, it’s literally like taking a class in flower arranging.
Common air fryer mistakes and how to avoid them.
Let’s just call it: This should be the drink of the summer.
If you’re making pasta salad, why not make it protein-powered?!!!
My potato chip-crusted chicken is so crunchy good, thus inspiring me to try this pretzel-crusted version.
Snickers are my favorite candy bar, so this healthier version is one I’m all over.
More meatballs ala Vietnamese style or these are teriyaki-chicken infused, yes, and please!
Smoke ’em if you got ’em (chicken thighs that is…)
A little bite of spice makes these fish bowls so nice.
A protein-packed salad that skips the greens.
Shrimp curry only gets statistically 243% better when shallot krispies are the topper.
A favorite pizza combo, but let’s make it tacos.
Take me to the tropics with this fruity, beyond yum dessert.
At my house, any recipe with orzo and sausage wouldn’t last a minute.
Caribbean chicken and rice in one pot! YUUUMMM.
Soft, moist, and lemony makes me ready to bake this!
If you’re thinking of remodeling (or building) your kitchen, these marble creations will totally WOW you (and your guests.)
We’ve had the same mattress topper for over 10 years, and it was turning to mush. Got this new one and my hips (and night sweats) are thanking me.
I saw this and thought it would make a good Father’s day pres.
My latest batch of candles kind of fizzled out on me, as in there’s still candle left but they won’t stay lit! Grrr. But I still crave a good scent so I invested in this room diffuser (and it’s a Utah company!). I’ve been pleased so far. It smells realllly delish, I can turn it on and off with the phone app, and there are all sorts of trendy scent refills by popular brands like Thymes and Capri Blue. This is my fave so far.
7 make-up tips pros swear by for women over 50.
And so, it was time to replenish some of my make-up, so here’s what I bought that I’m really loving now:
- I’ve used this foundation for the past few years and really liked it. Alas, I was ready for a change, so last week I bought this foundation and I think I love it even more. It’s light but it covers, blends smoothly, and stays on all day. What a concept! Enter GLOW at checkout and save $10 on a $50 purchase.
- I’m always trying new lippies and this lip balm is the right balance of a bit of color, some gloss, and sticky staying power.
- I have SERIOUS dark circles under my eyes, so if there’s one thing I cannot go without, it’s a good under-eye cover-up. Instagram wooed me to try this brand, and I am totally impressed! You only need a few dots, it doesn’t cake (!!), and my mascara doesn’t streak into it (which has been an issue with my droopy upper lids as I age!)

“If you’re patient with yourself, you become patient with others.” How Japan perfected the art of waiting.” So zen.
That’s it for this week! Have a great weekend, get outside to enjoy, and cook something good!

I always look forward to your Friday Faves . . . I’m an SF native though retired in AZ — couldn’t stand the traffic anymore. My SF fave is dim sum at Yank Sing. https://yanksing.com
Ok Trisha! Thanks for sharing because we LOVE Asian food so will for sure put it on the list. BTW, my dad, a SF native, said the same thing and much to my mom’s disappointment, wouldn’t move back after they married :).
