Hello again, it’s Friday Faves!

It’s January, the month that instills the hope and renewed vigor to tackle the list of challenges and goals you may have made.
And with that, my friends, I need your help.
This year marks 15 years of sharing recipes here on FoodieCrush. 15 years of sharing weekly lists of Friday Faves. 15 years of connecting with so many amazing readers, friends, and home cooks whom I hope to have inspired, because each one of you, with your eyeballs, your clicks, and comments, has inspired me to keep on sharing.
Looking forward (as one tends to do in this mighty month), I need some new year inspiration. I need you. I need your thoughts. I need your wants.
This community means the world to me, and I value the fact you choose to spend time here. That’s why for my 15th anniversary, my wish is to hear how I can help you more.
- What do you want to see more of on FoodieCrush?
- What do you want to see less of?
- What problems do you need help solving?
- Where do you want to see it and connect with it? (on the blog? in emails? on Instagram? on Facebook?)
- What are some of your favorite topics/things/resources you’d like me to share more of?
Thank you for considering leaving a comment below or sending me an email with your thoughts. I truly want to create a space you find value in and one I enjoy creating. You guys are simply the best! So send me your messages! XO
What I love about this muffin pan is that it’s silicone (obvi) but has a rigid frame, so whatever’s inside doesn’t just get slopped around when transferring to the oven. Smart. Who’s ready to bake?!!!
This was the heartwarming thing I needed to see and hear this week.
The Olympics are just days away! I cannot wait to see Lindsey Vonn BRING IT with her Olympic comeback of the century. Also, did you know why all the special equipment for this sport comes from the same tiny Scottish island? Crazy, right?
How to simplify your to-do list.
Buy less, buy better. How to spend less this year.
Are you up for trying the no-buy pantry challenge to save money and use what you’ve already got, forever lingering in your kitchen? I am gonna do it!
This week I shared my new recipe for Marry Me Shrimp Pasta, but if you have a meat lover, try this one with steak.
Another winner, winner chicken dinner. Confit!
How to freeze basil. Good to know.
I could certainly eat this for breakfast every day.
Butter beans. Not just fun to say, but definitely fun to eat in this salad.
What a fun way to make gnocchi.
Sliders are making their way to your Super Bowl feast. Which would you choose: Pepperoni caesar salad sliders or pastrami sliders?
If you’re a sourdough baker, try this recipe with caraway seeds (which are totally undervalued IMO.)
Or, cinnamon swirl bread is always a good breakfast bet.
Chicken wings with a Korean spiced bite.
Who doesn’t love an easy lettuce wrap, this time it’s with beef.
Let’s make coffee cake cool again.
Who wouldn’t love these chocolate brownies with a burst of berries?!?
Cute Valentine’s cookie cutters plus LIPS!
My friend told me she loved this book, and I love a good historical fiction novel. Judging by the reviews, so do a lot of others.
I was walking my dog when I noticed I was looking at the ground 2 feet in front of me. Bring that chin up, girlie! Hold that head high! Then I read this article on why posture matters for longevity, and I know I need to keep it up.
Okay, I bought this newly formulated nail polish, and I cannot believe it’s lasted longer than a week, even after doing dishes! I finish my DIY mani with this top coat. It doesn’t have a very wide selection of colors, but it’s super glossy, and the lighter color I chose def helps hide any chips that may happen.
What a perfect eye shadow palette.
The anti-jean trouser trend the ‘it girls’ are loving now.
The softest, comfiest Valentine’s jammies in short or long.
What a pretty dress, and with so many colors, it’s perfect for wedding season.
Did I already share my gardening goals for winter sowing? If so, here is another article on how to get started. I’ve got to get busy.
If you want to start journaling, this is a very approachable guide for beginners.
I heard this game is actually entertaining, with conversation starters you’ll actually want to have with friends this weekend, or any other!
That’s it for this week. Have a wonderful weekend, stay warm, and cook something good!

I don’t think you need to do anything differently than what you have been doing! I love the recipes and I love “Friday Faves” Thanks for all the fun!
Lyn Holmes
Hello Heidi, from Northern Virginia I have followed you for years and always look forward to your posts! Many of your recipes are yummy and inspirational, the photos great and stories always draw me in. The Friday Faves posts also, I love to read leisurely with a cup of tea. I don’t have suggestions, but I am a married woman, an empty nester with three grown children who thankfully I see often. Cooking and nesting are favorite pastimes….these are all topics of interest to me. Thanks for all the years of ideas!
Thank you so much Lyn! I so appreciate your note and your long years of reading! XOXOXO
Nancy Taylor
I look forward to Fridays because of your Friday Faves. Yet, there are all the other thoughtful columns you send on other days. You have definitely upped my kitchen game. So many thanks, and Happy 15th Anniversary!
Thank you so much Nancy, and thank you for taking time out to visit here.
Vanessa
Would love for you to explore sugar free recipes or suggestions on your recipes that substitute the sugar portion. Hubby is diabetic so I’ve been venturing down recipes that use erithitol, monk fruit sweetener and sugar substitutes. Love your recipes and would appreciate any help you can offer!
Thanks for the suggestion Vanessa, I’ll add that to the list.
Trisha
I love almost all of Ariel Lawhon’s books — the Frozen River is so good! I also LOVED Codename Helene–
I’ll have to add those to the reading list.
Frances
I look forward to your Friday favs. Has the right balance of interesting cultural tidbits, trends, science, Inspiration for kindness, ( Mr. Rodgers) organization ideas, and recipes, yours and others. In recipes I am going more and more vegetarian. I always cook very much lower fat and carb.
Thank you for the note and for the types of recipes you’re looking for.

Please Don’t change anything I like it just the way it is and I have a library (File Folder) full of your recipes and I use them all the time, you and your site are great just the way it is
That is so awesome to hear Ron! I’ll keep working to fill that folder even more.
Phi
Love your Friday Faves as usual! And I love all your recipes, again, as always!! The thing I struggle with most is family friendly recipes that my kids will actually eat so that I’m not making multiple things!
Oh Phi, you are definitely not the only one with that problem. But you do seem to do a bang up job on your own blog (one of my faves!).
Meredith
One of my favorite things about Friday is seeing your email in my inbox. I get so many great recipe/meal ideas from you each week. I also love the links you post for outfits, you have great style! So I say keep it up, and thank you!!
Thank you Meredith! Okay, the recipes and fashion will keep on coming!
