Happy Friday friends!
It seems like this is the time of year where there is not way I can get enough tomatoes and mozzarella under my belt. And I don’t even wear a belt. And please, don’t forget that fresh basil from the garden and balsamic drizzle, even if these guys disagree.
This week I’ve been riding high on fresh eats and quality time with friends and family. Although I don’t have my mini me at my side during the day (“Mooooommm, I don’t want summer to be ooooovvver!”) I’ve been enjoying some quality time with her grandma Pat who’s been staying with us this week.
My MIL has seen her fair share of dish duty (score!!) and has taken over Smudge’s chore of watering the outdoor plants among other things. She’s definitely pulling her weight and is an entertaining pal to have around, so I’m rewarding her in all the cheese. And tomatoes, naturally.
This week I sat down to breakfast with my Grandma Frieda’s favorite breakfast (cottage cheese on toast with jam) and looked through her Joy of Cooking cookbook that was passed down to me after she passed away almost 20 years ago. The best part of the cookbook? Her handwritten recipes she added from friends. Have you had a treasured cookbook handed down to you? Maybe it’s on this list of 10 favorite timeless cookbooks. Let’s cook!
I’m hosting a party this weekend and making this. In fact, I might make the whole menu!

I have a similar set up to the vari desk that you posted a link to. I use it at my traditional office for a standing desk in my cube. I have had it for about 6 months and think it’s great! The thing that I love about it is that you can move it up and down as needed. I like to stand, but can’t always stand all day, so it’s nice to have the option to move the desk back down for a few hours to sit, then stand again later. My co-workers want one, too!
