Hello, and happy hallowed Friday!
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and finally, New Years! It’s that time of year when the pressure is on to do all the right things and be everything to everyone. Or is it?
A few days ago, I read this quick piece about how to disappoint the right people, where this quote nailed the proverbial people pleaser in all of us on our overcommitted heads:
“Part of setting healthy boundaries is deciding who you’re willing to let down—and who has the right to make you feel guilty. Not everyone deserves power over your emotions.” ~ Adam Grant
If you’re a people pleaser and have a hard time saying “no”, this is the time to choose what delights and serves you most, and filter out what doesn’t. Under commit and over deliver. Just say no. Pass on being in charge. Don’t worry about pleasing everyone else before yourself.
Remember, by putting yourself first and not trying to be everything to every body, before you know it you’ll be enjoying a very happy holiday season you’ll actually enjoy.
With that, let’s get things rocking, and move on into this week’s Friday Faves.
