Hello and happy Friday.
Look around. Take a breath. Have a stretch. We made it! It’s Friday.
Everything around us is amping up. More and more of the C-word cases are emerging fast. So much election angst. More hardships. More restrictions. More people ignoring the doctors. Halloween spirits that are not in the best spirits. It’s draining for us all. And it’s showing. This week, for the first time since this whole shebang hit the skids, I broke down and I cried. I never cry. Unless it’s while watching heart warming news stories or TV commercials. But I did. It wasn’t pretty. But it was needed. And I don’t know if I’m done crying yet.
It’s hard to believe, but here we are. We’re plugging through, and trying to make the best of what’s unknown without much (or any?) light in sight at the end of the tunnel. I keep telling myself, “It’s temporary. Let’s all just do our part. Just take things one day at a time.” But man, if people don’t pull together in this bizzaro situation of a world we’re in, I don’t know where we’re going to land. I totally don’t have any answers, but I do know that as a society we must all follow the rules for there to be any sort of strength in unity.
So there it is. I don’t have much more to say. Next week’s elections will be a doozy. And from the local level of candidates all the way to the president, no matter who is voted as our next leaders, I’m ready to have at least that unknown, known. Let’s all just hope we can make that happen too. And please, I don’t care what side of the aisle you stand on, I’m not being political, I’m just being a realist.
Also…Don’t forget to set your clock back this Saturday night. Wow! An extra hour of sleep might be the best news I’ve had in months! :)

What is the recipe at the top of this post? Is that a beef stroganoff?
Heidi
Yes Sarah, here’s the recipe.
Sonia Richardson
Heidi, thank you for sharing your real life, in living color, moment of humanity. I, too, had a serious “good cry” this past Wednesday. Driving home from Costco, I just lost it! I have to state frankly, we are living in a hate-filled time when peoples’ selfishness and need to step on and oppress others is greater than it’s EVER been. Our leaders are to blame for not dealing with these matters in a realistic manner for the past 30 years. Rich are richer, and poor are VERY POOR. OF COURSE we’re in this place! Pray that divine order and common sense prevail.
Heidi
Thanks for the nice words Sonja, we’re all hoping for better days ahead!
Deb
Heidi,
crying is good for your heart and soul honey. Being a tough mom or wife is helpful yes, but boy does it feel good to shed those pent up tears. Thank you for sharing your heart.
I love your recipes. Hang in there sweet lady.
a big fan,
Deb, from Ogden, Utah.
Heidi
Thank you Deb, and yep, sometimes a good cry is exactly what’s called for.
