Hello and happy Friday!
Can you feel it? It’s here. The warmth of the sun as it slants and shadows earlier in the afternoon. The final days of the best garden tomatoes. Pumpkin flavored everything. Fuzzy sweaters and sun-kissed chilly cheeks. Boots. Warm straw, oranges, and yellows that dot the landscape everywhere you look. Football. The natural slow down that coaxes us into cozy-ing up.
These are the days of autumn. And because we all got gypped on summer, I’m 100% here for fall.
And I’m not the only one.
This author reports why there’s a psychological reason we are obsessed with fall, quoting Amy Jane Griffiths, Ph.D, N.C.S.P., a licensed psychologist and professor at Chapman University, who notes, “We all crave the comfort and security that comes with traditions and predictability…They may relate to joyful experiences with friends and family and provide something to look forward to.” And with 2020 droning on as it has, I think we can all relate.
With every season I think about making a bucket list. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. But this week I discovered a few lists that have given me inspo to take some time to think about what will fill me up, give me joy, and share my gratitude before the leaves all fall from the trees.

Just in case the canister doesn’t work out – I keep my brown sugar in the freezer and pull it out a little before baking time… same time frame for putting refrigerated butter on the counter to soften. It totally works, at least with light brown sugar!
