Hey hey and happy Friday!
I wasn’t sure how last week’s Friday Faves post would be received, so I was thrilled to receive so many positive reader emails and discover a very low unsubscriber count to prove 99.9% of you agree that change and equality for black lives must occur. This past week I’ve spent time listening, observing, and learning so much more of how I can be the best ally I can, in my own life and here on FoodieCrush. I hope you continue your education too.
A few weeks ago, we tested the waters by expanding our tight quarantine circle and hosted a small, outdoor, socially distanced Mother’s Day bbq with my parents and in laws. There were masks but no hugs as I did my best sous chef impersonation by dressing everyone’s favorite garlic burgers to order and dishing out my grandma’s famous potato salad as the only one allowed in the kitchen. As we sat outside and chatted for several hours, it was crazy to all of us that something as simple as an impromptu burger cookout could bring us so much joy. It was the best day I’ve had in a LONG time, even before QT.
That day was yet another reminder that you don’t have to go overboard to make an amazing memory. It’s something I preach all the time, but that afternoon, after weeks of distancing, it was a real-life revelation of how important it is to appreciate the simple times we spend with those we love.
But enough of that, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves.
I like this idea: Why you should still take your summer Friday’s even while in quarantine.
Proof that every voice matters: How one 24-year-old woman’s email changed Webster’s definition of racism. V. cool.

- The 20 best organizing tips learned over the last 20 years.
- The best space-saving organization ideas for the garage.
Okay, so during QT I peeled off my gel manicure, put on fake nails, and totally ruined my fingernails that are now peeling and paper thin. I’ve been using this nail recovery kit and it actually seems to be working. But it’s going to take a while.
Bad hair day? They say these are the best hair products of all time.
Did you catch Cardi B’s homemade hair mask tutorial for natural hair in her Instagram highlights? 100% sleek results!
We’re in the final stretch of redoing our landscaping and I 100% wish I’d thought of/had room/money for putting in a sand pool. How cool are they!!??! Maybe instead of remodeling I just need to move.

Exercises to get a toned booty without any special equipment.
I went on my favorite kind of shopping spree—in and out of Target in 20 minutes—and ended up bringing home:
- This t-shirt I’ll live in all summer
- These pants worn at comfy hopefully social occasions
- Another sleeveless top similar to the one I wore all last year
- And loaded up on several of these floaties for days at the lake
That’s it for this week. Stay safe and educate.
