Hello hello and happy Friday.
I am so pleased to say that last weekend was a really, really good weekend. Of course, most every weekend is good, sometimes even really good, but It’s been a while since I’ve added that extra “really” into my weekend reflection. Maybe it was because it started off with pizza for breakfast? Interestingly, those good feels and propelled me through this week, with feelings of gratefulness I didn’t realize were missing.
Why was my weekend so good you ask? Because it was a “doer” weekend, where we did stuff and got things done and it almost felt like things were back to the regular—because we had nothing but time to “do” them.
Striking things off my to-do list is one of my greatest joys. But there are always at least 10 revolving tasks that never rise from the bottom. That is, until quarantine hit. Granted, it’s taken me two full months of wading through my daily to-dos to make time for striking out the ever-present bottom 10, but hitting for the fences I am. And yep, I’m scoring too.
Being home all of the time sucks. And even though our state says it’s okay to mostly get back to the regular, I’m taking it ultra slow, and taking advantage of the time I have on my hands to make good weekends really really good. Let’s keep being safe.
But enough about me, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves.

GeeZ…you had a lot to post today. Life has been a bit strong being home all the time and some days not really wanting to do much with the pandemic. I spend some days, just cooking for the week and sharing with my girlfriend so she doesn’t have to cook since she is still working from home. But, I have to admit, I did come up with a few different things to eat and I’m glad I did. I get tuna steak from time to time at $8.99 a lb. I will take a 10 oz. tuna steak, season it, add sesame seeds and black pepper around the edges and sesame oil on the face. Grill it up so that it is pink inside and make tuna fish salad with sweet onion, celery and some mayo. Try it and I bet you will not eat tuna fish out of a can again. Also, salmon cakes can be and enjoyed when it is fresh salmon that is on sale as well. Since I came from Maryland with the best crab cakes ever, I found fresh salmon makes the best cakes as well.
I am very grateful in that I am fortunate to have retired and have been able to get out of the house too. Since I have a flats boat and an offshore boat, I can spend time fishing and cruising and as most of us boat owners do….work on them as well when the days are not right for boating. Thank you for the Friday faves….I do look forward to them. NOW, it is house cleaning time since the woman is coming for the weekend and hopefully, stay longer since she was here for the past two months.
