Hello, hello, and happy Friday!
It’s been a funk of a week. The brew ha ha of the holidays came to an end, then the new year was full of promise, and then I spent my birthday on a fabulous vacation with my favorite guy, which meant I came home with new inspiration and enthusiasm, and…then…the brakes hit the skids, and, whaaa whaaaa whaaaaaaaaaaa.
I hit a major funk. It happens, and it happens to all of us and believe me, I know I’m not the only one.
I love my job, and I’m always looking for inspiration so I can inspire you too. There’s lots of ways I find inspiration for FoodieCrush. Cookbooks, other bloggers, magazines, podcasts, nature, friends and family and so much more.
But one of my favorite ways to become inspired is to get into the kitchen and cook for the fun of it. Because just like the painter whose home needs a paint job, or the mechanic whose car has squeaky brakes, when you work in food, cooking can become a chore and the job that it is. But I love cooking, so making food that isn’t for the blog is where I’m zeroing in on digging out of my funk.
And guys, if these salted chocolate chip cookies don’t do the trick, I don’t know what will. So here’s what I think is a great idea for the weekend ahead: You should make them for yourself, grab a glass of milk, and start dunking away.
I’ll be in and out of the kitchen this weekend, and I hope you will too. And to get us both inspired, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves.
