Knowing it was going to be a long day with a lot of rumbling stomachs, I had planned ahead and brought my stash of on-the-go snacks.
This post is sponsored by Naturebox, because convenient snacks on the go can literally save the day.
There were 12 girls under the age of 12. Yes. I said TWELVE pre-teens who were quickly turning into ghouls.
The switch happened sometime after riding Cannibal, the new roller coaster that features the steepest drop in the United States (and holds the record for the tallest beyond-vertical drop on a roller coaster) and the wild run to the other side of the amusement park in search of Frightmares Halloween zombies and goblins.
Hangry. If it hasn’t yet made the move from the urban dictionary to Websters by now, it’s only a matter of nanoseconds that it will.
Hungry + Angry. Hangry. The hangrys are simply a byproduct of everyday life. You don’t eat? You get hungry. And then you get grouchy.
And then your day gets really scary.
Standing in line on the third ride we already heard the chorus begin. “Mom, I’m hungry. Mom, when are we going to lunch? Mom, I’m going to diiiiiiiie, I’m starving!”
We had girls who were turning into ghouls. Hangry ghouls.
Sure I was prepared to stave off the evil villains, ghosts and goblins of this haunted amusement park for our precious pre-teen party. But I was also prepared to do exorcise the demonic hangrys.
The first treat I broke out for our hangry young ladies were the Naturebox whole wheat chocolate animal crackers. I knew right away they’d be the favorite for these sweet loving little ghouls.
The animal crackers were gone in less than 60 seconds and one of the moms even commented they liked them even better than regular animal crackers because they weren’t quite as sweet.
After taking full advantage of the short lines and gorgeous fall weather, we headed to the pavilion where picnic tables are staged under flowering arbors next to a bubbling river.
I broke out the backpack filled with snacks and set out our sampling feast. I had brought along some sliced cheese and salami too, but the kids had none of that. All they clamored for was the naturally salty and sweet from Naturebox.
Why I Dig Naturebox
Unlike other mailed food services, you get exactly what you want. Naturebox offers over 100 all-natural snacks that aren’t chosen for you, they’re snacks you get to choose. And these aren’t sample-size tastes, either. Each bag has at least 3-5 servings.
This time around I chose: Pistachio Power Clusters (my favorite), Sea Salt Pop Pops, dried Granny Smith Apples, Double Berry Fruit Peels, Salt and Pepper Pistachios, Asiago and Cheddar Cheese Crisps and Whole Wheat Chocolate Animal Crackers.
See their list of snacks to choose from here.
Ding dong, delivery right to my door! Naturebox is delivered right to my door as little or as often as I crave. Want them every week? Done! Once a month. You got it. Choose what makes sense for you.
And if you work in an office, they have a delivery option for the whole team too.
Treats for every dietary need. Smudge has friends who are lactose-intolerant, gluten-free and some that are just plain picky! Naturebox offers a wide variety to please them all.
And all of their snacks are free of artificial colors, sweeteners and flavors. I like that a lot.
Suddenly our ghouls had turned into sweet girls again and it was time to be on our way and hit more rides…and discover a few real ghouls, goblins and zombies along the way. Man, I love my Smudge.
Hmmm, I don’t think they really know WHAT to make of the real life zombies. They’ve put on some pretty brave faces, don’t you think?

Such snacks can definitely save any party, especially when it was organized with a tough budget! I cannot believe I happened on this article right before Halloween. Thank you so much!

That is really great snacks, but I do not think sausage is, I would definitely add some fruits like apples or bananas. Kids love fruits and it would be very healthy for them.
