Happy Friday friends! And cheers to the start of the most joyful, and stressful, time of the year.

I’ve started the 2015 holidays off by getting a jump on my ’16 New Years resolutions. Not so much resolutions, but lifestyle changes. Because it’s more of a health-style. Yeah. I like that. Health-style.
How’s my success? Let’s just say it’s a work in progress.
One of the changes is doing more meal planning and prep. You might think that’s an odd thing for a food blogger to say. And yes, I’d totally agree because our mealtime norm is far from normal when I’m making and baking totally out of sync recipe concoctions that simply do not add up to a meal. Then when the family asks what’s for dinner, my answer is a flat out, “I have no idea.”
Example: yesterday’s lunch, as seen above. A mish-mosh of leftover beef stir-fry (we HAD to make this recipe again because it is SO GOOD!) and Roasted Chickpeas and Tomatoes from a salad recipe I shared on Instagram and Facebook to help promote the American Diabetes Association’s National Healthy Lunch Day #healthylunchday. Share your own healthy lunch with the hashtag on social too!
That’s why I’m trying to be more efficient with my meal planning thanks to tips like these. I’ll be sharing more of my progress and what I’m learning along the way here on the bloggity blog as well as a few other things I have up my sleeve.
I don’t want to be blindsided by 2016, and I bet you don’t either, so like my husband says, “Let’s just ease into our day.”
On that note, I just want to let you know if you want to see a more behind-the-scenes look at the everyday FoodieCrush, I would love it if you joined me on Snapchat (the app is available on your smartphone only).
Everyone I talk to says, “Why do you like Snapchat? Isn’t it just for teenagers to send naughty photos they don’t want anyone else to see?”
The answer is yes. But it’s way more than that, and I love it.
I use Snapchat because they have a ‘stories’ feature where I can share everyday, un-edited glimpses of life and the process that makes FoodieCrush happen. Plus, I’m doing a lot of step-by-step cooking of recipes I’m creating so you can follow along.
Unlike Instagram that I whole heartedly love too, Snapchat doesn’t have filters to make things look better, and it’s in real time. You can only view my stories for 24 hours from the post time so there’s not as much pressure for any of us to make it Martha Stewart-magazine-perfect. It’s just real!
Just like on all my social channels, find me everywhere, including Snapchat @foodiecrush. I hope you’ll join me there!
But enough about me, let’s get you into this week’s Friday Faves!
From my husband’s “Dogs Are Cool” series. Reminds me of our first dog Akasha, she was the best malamute. But not as cool as Zudnick.

We’re in the mad dash to the turkey day finish line and for me it’s always all about the sides. These look like perfect last-minute additions to the table.
Brown Butter and Rosemary Mashed Sweet Potatoes
Four ingredients are all you need!
Vegetarian Cajun-Spiced Shepherd’s Pie
The beauty of this baby is it goes great with turkey, but man, I’d hope for leftovers to make one decadent main.
Creamy Mushroom, Leek and Gruyere Gratin
Gratin-ya! What a great alternative to green bean casserole, but still with the creamy gravy.
Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving friends and get into the kitchen, and cook something good. Or if you’re like me, simply celebrate with the ones you love.

Photojournalism is actually a devoted profession. Without proper commitment it isn’t easy to achieve your ultimate goal in this area. It’s directly linked with 3rd eye, that’s the reason it is simply not an easy job.
