This week’s Friday Faves is brought to you by…Poppies!
In This Post
Orange. It’s my favorite color. Poppies. One of my favorite flowers. If only they were willing to be cut and brought indoors to last for more than an hour. I suppose that’s their wild streak, they refuse to be harnessed.
Last weekend was a favorite too, thanks to a Mother’s Day surprise weekend staycation planned by someone other than me.
This year, snow landed splat on the auspicious day and our golf plans gave way to a mid-day movie marathon. No matter to us, we’re adaptable that way and still trekked it up and down Park City’s Main Street despite the return of the blasted chill of winter/spring/mud season. Biscotti, croissants, hot lattes and chocolates from Main Street’s Java Cow didn’t hurt much either.
But let’s talk about dinner. These girls, they’re brilliant. And planners. And good secret keepers. They squired their dads to the grocery store (and didn’t forget the wine and flowers!) for the goods for the secret feast they had been plotting.
After the mamas received back rubs and foot massages (DIY spa days from our girls are the best) and watched back to back movies of Pitch Perfect and Legally Blonde, our little ladies got into the kitchen and prepared their mamas a dinner to remember.
Hold on. You’re going to be impressed.
The dinner they chose for us? Frosted Meatloaf. Curious? Let me know and the recipe just might show up on the blog. By those girls, of course.
And now, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves!
Our annual Mother/Daughter selfie. I spent all of my time on her hair, and thus, none on my own. A mother’s work is never done.
We brunched our way through Mother’s Day here (the best oysters and chocolate decadence cake EVER!) and strictly adhered to the top 10 rules for the best brunch.
This food photo might be one of the most amazing I’ve ever seen. I mean, that’s precision.
A Pin led me to this kitchen but I’m sticking around because I’m smitten with her blog.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smarter framed entry to a kitchen.
Cupcakes are more popular than Kanye? Google deems 13 foods that are trendier than celebrities.
And this cupcake, in my opinion, has far more flavor than Kanye ever could.
Cheese seared in a pan with a melty crust? My favorite kind! (and those photos…gorg-E-ous.)
Cookies for breakfast! Smartest way to frame a kid into eating healthy (or so I’ve heard.)
Pulled pork breakfast nachos. Slather on that jalapeño cheddddah.
Oh mama, this skillet cobbler. All day long.
These would make the cutest hostess gifts. Ah, screw that. I just want ’em! (My fave: Alcohol won’t solve the problem. But neither will milk.)
Everyone’s talking about it (am I the only one late to the game?) so it’s on my next to-watch-on-Netflix fix.
I don’t care party hair. I’m working on it.

Totally Pinned!
There was a ton of stuff that beckoned my pinning finger. Here are three that I’ll be putting into practice.
Flaky, Fluffy Southern Buttermilk Biscuits
Thanks to a tip from Lifehacker (my daughter’s favorite site ever!) these biscuits bake up fluffy every time.
Grilled Moroccan Chicken with Garlic Sauce
A scented yogurt sauce marinade makes this chicken stand out from the crowd.
Frozen Blueberry Coconut Yogurt Pie
It takes just four ingredients and wa-lah! You have pie!
Have a great weekend everybody, get out and soak it up, and then get into the kitchen and cook something good.

Without the existence of your weekly Friday Faves in my life, there would be an empty void in which nothing else could fill. Now I’m hoping it’s on your list to post a recipe of that Frosted Meatloaf sometime in the next few weeks, because I am beyond intrigued… (especially since it kinda looks like a cake!)
Denise
As always a stellar list – loving it all! Especially the Smitten Studio – just spent a lot of time there! Have a great weekend!
