This post is brought to you by Smiths Marketplace
Hello friends and hap-hap-happy Friday.
While the calendar officially ticked over to Autumn a few weeks ago, to me this has been the week that’s finally made it official. I’ve let go of the fact that once again my tomatoes yielded a less than prolific crop (any suggestions on making tomatoes thrive is more than welcome!) because the leaves on the mountain foliage out our front door is absolutely STUNNING this year.
In the 10 years we’ve lived in this house, I’ve never seen it so vibrant. The reds, yellows, oranges. This photo totally doesn’t do it justice because IRL it’s so incredibly stunning. It gives me a sense of renewal, which is ironic since it’s the time when nature is wilting and wasting away, but in my mind that only leads to the readying and preparation for the sprouting of new life, new goals and new experiences.
Fall is probably my favorite time of year and this one is no different. I actually bought a half dozen cans of pumpkin to have on hand for my fave pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and this super simple 5-ingredient pumpkin soup (shown above with my kale butternut squash and chickpea salad and my man’s famous filet mignon from this week’s video shoot—coming soon!) and this weekend we’ll also be putting the house and yard into full Halloween gore mode.
How are you spending your fall days?
Fall is also synonymous with FOOTBALL and we got things started with our homegate tailgate party (thanks to so many of you who said you loved the video :) ) and this Saturday we’re taking our tailgating live with football tailgating at the University of Utah when they take on Stanford, and I’ll first be stopping by the Smith’s Tailgate Experience for tons of free food and drink plus eight 65” TVs will be showing other games across the country.
Whether you have a ticket to the game or not, you can still go to the Smith’s Tailgate Experience for free at every U of U home game by purchasing $25 of participating items at Smith’s. (1 child, under 12, gets in free with an adult) Every $25 you spend gets you 1 admission. Get more info here.
So that’s my weekend agenda, what’s on yours???
So let’s get this weekend thing going and start by digging into this week’s Friday Faves :)~ !!
It’s been another week of shocking events and trying to explain this most recent tragedy to my daughter has been a challenge but I felt this was sage advice.
How to help Las Vegas shooting victims right now. breaks.my.heart.
and…
How you can help hurricane victims in Puerto Rico. another heart breaker.
This chef is pitching in by feeding thousands. Bravo.
A grandpa who volunteer in the NICU twice a week, and cuddles babies. What a guy!
Boom puffs, dudesmaids, and moo beast — not gonna lie, this totally made me snort-laugh.
and speaking of funny things…
My inner font junkie found this Ryan Gosling SNL sketch hysterical.
Okay, and this one too.
And now I’m craving Italian food, like these meatballs.
I want to face-plant into this smothered chicken skillet. #havemercy
If you like the Instant Pot, you’ll love this.
This recipe makes me want to load up and go camping. Or be lazy and just make them at home :).
Craving this beautiful fall salad for a happier work lunch. I mean, GORGEOUS!
Two of my all time favorite comfort foods, married together, in ONE POT. Yaaaas.
Yes another take on my cinnamon roll obessession. Hello, lover.
This grocery list…so funny.
What kind of food snob are you?
and…
Soooo, what’s really inside that can of pumpkin?

Did you know Babs has a mall in her BASEMENT? Yes, a mall. This isn’t new news per se, but it is new to me. It even inspired a hit one-man play! #coolestbasementever
and since shopping is now on my brain…
My jeans arrived, and I am LOVING THEM! So comfy but I don’t look like I’m wearing yoga pants (even though I could totally do yoga in them.)
This top. Pretty sure I could live in it these next few months.
Tassel jewelry is trending this fall, and these earrings are fun, and you can’t beat the price. Target for the win.
