Happy Friday friends of FoodieCrush. Let’s bring it on!
Last weekend I enjoyed the blush of spring in Sacramento, CA, America’s farm to fork capital, where I was visiting almond groves with one of my partners here on the blog, Blue Diamond Almond Breeze. The green rolling hills. The bees waking in the hives after the morning chill. The almond blossoms blooming into soon-to-become-nuts that almond lovers the world over will soon be enjoying.
In This Post
The feeling of spring soaked into my bones and bathed me in the promise that winter would soon be over.
And then I came home to Salt Lake City. And it snowed.
That’s spring for ‘ya.
I’ll be sharing more of my trip in an upcoming post later this month, but I just couldn’t NOT share the promise of spring blooms. If they haven’t hit you in your neighborhood yet, keep your spirits up, because they’re just around the corner.
But until then, I’m going to take advantage of all this Utah snow, and man, it has been one absolutely epic year for it. Like a record breaking epic year. If you’re a skier or boarder or even just a snowflake chaser, you need to get out here, like, now.
After coming home from the blooms of spring, we headed to the mountains for a day that was a little bit unusual for me. See, I’m usually the one behind the camera, as the photographer or art director. But this week my little family and I did a little work in front of the camera acting it out as the always-smiling, having-so-much-fun-but-try-to-look-totally-natural tourists for a video for Solitude Mountain Resort, another client of mine who I do food photography for.
Sure it was fun, but man it was hard for me to not take over and give shot ideas, or tell my fellow “models” what to do. It’s been my job for so long that old habits die hard.
But the best part of the day was spending it with my fam for some quality time together, loving the sunny, perfect snow conditions on a weekday when all of the crowds were far away from spring break madness or weekend snow seekers.
I’m one lucky gal, and life.is.good.
But enough about me, let’s dig into this week’s list of Friday Faves. Enjoy friends!
