As I write this post for a $100 Albion Fit Giveaway, I’m watching the big—or actually much smaller, leaner and more toned—season finale of The Biggest Loser.
Coincidence? It’s probably more like a get off the old butt and get moving motivator.
After re-upping the gym membership and making my 2014 diet and fitness goals, I more than welcomed the offer from Albion Fit to check out their workout wear.
The fact that the company is based locally in Salt Lake City and is named after one of my favorite canyons (the wildflowers in the springtime are INSANE) makes my eagerness to try their fitness gear all the more attractive.
And a little workout giveaway doesn’t hurt either.
About the items Albion sent to me:
Go Long Crew, With Thumb Holes, $28
I live in black cotton tops and the Go Long Crew from Albion is my new favorite, I wear it all the time, even here. It’s super soft and drapes just right thanks to it’s spandex blend. It’s similar to a Splendid brand long sleeve T I also have but at $28 it’s less than half the price. This tee is long enough for my tall frame and I’ve yet to see any balling or pilling like some of those I’ve found at Target.
I will definitely be buying more to add to my rotating selection. Hey, I may even go crazy and try the fuchsia.
Aprés Leggings, $78
My initial crush on these Aprés Leggings was because of the cute, contrasting stitching that gave them a more jeans-ish than yoga-ish look. Perfect for a blogger who doesn’t want to look like she’s in her workout pants all day even if I am. But that dang stitching was the downfall of this pair of leggings for me.
As I started to pull one leg on (the description does say they’re “cut in a close-fitting shape”) the stitching where the zipper invisibly would have been popped and unraveled about 1/2 inch. While the seam is purely decorative and wouldn’t hamper any sort of workout for wear, it would be the one area that I wouldn’t care to draw any more attention to.
After letting the folks know at Albion about my stich sitch, they quickly amended and with great customer service offered to resend another pair as a replacement or send me something else to consider.
That’s what I think is key to a great company = great customer service. Albion seems to be following the same philosophy that Nordstrom is so beloved for: No questions asked, just take care of the customer.
Timp Vest, $68
As I’ve mentioned, I’m always cold so layering is key for this girl. But an outdoor vest when I’m sitting at my computer isn’t always the most comfortable with either too much bulk or slick fabric better suited for braving a chill fall wind. But Albion’s Timp Vest has found it’s place on my shoulders both in front of and away from the computer.
This vest has more style than any you’ll find at REI, with ruching to flatter one’s girlish figure and skinny stripes on top to contrast the black solid that minimizes the bottom. And as a fan of soft fabric once again, its a great addition to lounge wear without looking too lounge-ish.
