This week I spent $15 on a bag of Jelly Bellys for my Smudge. And I was totally okay with it because we were celebrating. Celebrating and trolling HomeGoods for a new dog bed, because…we got a new pup!
In This Post
Last week I told you we were on the hunt for a new rescue pup and I’m so happy to say that our search is over and we have a new furry gal in our family.
Meet Zoee with two E’s. She’s like Beyoncé that way. And Cher. Just one name is all she needs. With two E’s. That’s her.
I guess karma has finally caught up to us by delivering a pup who is perfectly house trained, doesn’t bark at other dogs as they go up the street, doesn’t pull my arm off on walks and is amazing off leash. A far cry from our other sweet dogs, who, if the door was even slightly ajar would bolt for the run of their lives.
All she wants to do is play, play, play, wiggle her tail-less little butt and climb into our laps to lick, lick, lick our faces. While we watch TV, while we read, while I work on the computer. And she won’t. get. down. You’ll see. I’ll show you.
We are just lovin’ lovin’ lovin’ her and every minute of her licking and wiggle butts. Pippa, our chihuahua mix, is still on the fence, but she’s coming around. Thank you to Salt Lake City’s Rescue Rovers for rescuing her and placing her in our lives. We’re so lucky.
And now, more of this week’s Friday Faves!
And to that bag of 49 flavors of Jelly Bellys—my favorite flavor is buttered popcorn. Smudge is partial to strawberry cheesecake. Which flavor are you?
If you missed last night’s episode of Modern Family, head to Hulu stat! What a genius way to film an episode, and a hilarious mirror of our online lives today. Man, Claire can work a Mac like no other. I need her to be my geek squad. Read why it’s notable here.
Behind the scenes of Bon Appetit’s private kitchen. I love my marble, but I WANT THEIRS!
Courtney told me yesterday about this amazing book she read, and that even as a clutter-free virtuoso, she said it turned her onto some new ideas. So I ordered it.
And then…
I came upon a gem of advice on the best way to clean out my closet, featuring the book I just ordered’s author! I guess the world is telling me what’s on my to-do list this weekend.
I wasn’t going to re-hash the Oscars, but this behind the scenes look at the red carpet is pretty fun.
She made this amazing charred cauli carbonara the same day I posted this charred brussels pasta carbonara. Great minds think alike.
I missed her birthday! But I still want a slice of her sugar cookie layer cake. Happy Bday Annalise!
Whole wheat banana bread with greek yogurt. Healthy, healthy, healthy.
My Smudge is a HUGE soup fan so when I pulled out three different flavors of this fresh, organic soup for her and her friends to choose from, there were happy slurps all the way around. My favorite is the Corn Chowder. I finished it off for dinner tonight. Spicy, and so good.

Whether you’re a flipper or a keeper, here are some of the best home improvements for resale.
I’ve been using this on my face in the mornings and I love how it’s helping with the chappy cold.
A faceoff of the best cookbooks.
13 ways to stop drinking soda for good. But I’m not sure I’m quite ready to ditch my DC.
Eek! Swimsuit season is right around the corner. 50 swimsuits for spring break. I like that the majority of them are made for real women, not just models with wings.
And thus, 7 steps to an instant butt lift.
And, because we have this new pup who has energy above and beyond and more to spare, I’m graduating from walking to running with this 8 week beginners program. Lord help me.

There is a reason why I bought a Mac, it was not to be one of the cool kids that wanted the best of the best. No it was because of the music production I do on it. Hours and hours sitting in front of my Mac copying, pasting, moving, deleting, hour after hour just beating on my Mac in a endless assault to get my work done. That is the key part, my work. I work from home, it is great, but even if it is from home it is still work and it still needs to get done. So my Mac, I have it because it is fast, gets the job done and comes back for more.
But what happens when it doesn’t want to do those things anymore?
I move around massive amounts of information and yes even on the almighty Mac this can cause a problem after a while. Things fragment, programs get corrupted issues come up. My light speed Mac slows down to a crawl and all of the sudden I simply can not get any work done. Because I work from home there is no IT guy to call and ask to come fix it. No instead I have to figure out what is wrong. I am lucky, I did, but not after trying everything under the sun first and wasting countless hours looking for one program that can do what I needed instead of ten programs. One program to lead them all….okay that was a lame Lord of the rings reference, but that program was/is Detox My Mac. A simple to use program that did not just fix my issues, it put my Mac on overdrive again. A few clicks and my Mac was clean and ready to rock and roll again.

Thanks for the mention, Heidi! It’s always a life changing experience adding another member to the family but it’s worth it! We adopted two shelter cats four years ago and I can’t imagine life without them.
Nancy B.
Congratulations on your new family member, Zoee! It is no surprise that she doesn’t run off .. she has been “out there” and is no doubt very grateful for her new forever family. Sounds like she is showing her gratitude and joy by giving lots of kisses and cuddles :) Thank you for this wonderful post reminding everyone of the blessing of adopting a shelter animal. It’s a life saved. All the best to your family.

Zoee!!! What a sweetie. I’m sure Pippa will come around. Chubby went from hating Nacho to tolerating her and now they are sorta kinda friends. Baby steps! xo

I’m sooo ordering that book about ‘decluttering’! And I’m going to come back to this post because I want to ‘pin’ each and every recipe. (I’ve already pinned the Slowcooker Cuban Sliders. And congrats on The Pup !!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat
Ok, I need to come up with an excuse to make those rainbow donuts NOW because they are SO cute!!! I love that you spent $15 on Jelly Belly jellybeans… those are such a strong childhood memory for me! My sister and I used to test out new Jelly Belly “cocktails” by mixing different flavours together and eating them. I just did the quiz and got Sizzling Cinnamon:
“You’re smoking hot, like obviously hotter than any other jelly bean around. You sizzle and shine! Pretty much all eyes go to you when you enter a room. You’ve got gorgeous coloring and feel confident rocking a bold print. But deep down, you’re a rather complicated little bean. You’re spicy and have been called a little cray, but you know that you’re just bold enough!”
I guess I’m flattered?! LOL thanks for another great Foodie Faves!
heidi
Sizzling cinnamon! you/ve got it going on!
