Happy Friday friends!
Have you guys ever picked up an issue of Us Weekly? I used to be obsessed with that mag. So obsessed that I couldn’t bear to subscribe because I’d miss the few precious days of gossip while the issue was in postal-transit. So instead, I spent lots of money at the grocery store newsstand to get my juicy news hot off the presses. Mind you, this was all before the speed of the interwebs providing all the trash anyone could want at their immediate disposal.
In Us Weekly, one of their longest runs of continuity is a column called “Stars. They’re Just Like Us.” Celebrities grocery shopping, hitting the ski slopes and gasp! Pumping their own gas for God’s sake!
Well friends, this little spiel is my episode of “food bloggers, they’re just like us,” wherein for the past 3 days is me, the food blogger, in the kitchen with 3 different recipe fails, including this amazing brownie recipe that I’ve made SIX TIMES because I’m trying to make the tiniest adaptation for a shiny crackly crust that I’ve done before and now can’t recreate #brainfart, and has therefore caused me an unreal amount of exasperation because my high altitude baking issues have not translated to following a simple, and already delicious recipe from a cookbook. Dude! I’m not even trying to make this recipe up! I’m taking it straight from the pages, but its these altitude adjustments that are killing me. Maybe I should listen to Alton Brown’s reasoning for the biggest mistake people make when reading a recipe.
It just goes to show, no matter what your cooking skill level, we all have issues in the kitchen and NOTHING is as perfect as it seems, no matter how ideal and curated it may seem.
In the end, avocado toast wins. But doesn’t it always?
Maybe one of these 10 ingredient swaps that won’t fail you or your cake wouldn’t have failed me if I’d seen these tips 5 batches of brownies sooner.
My PERFECTED brownie recipe will be coming soon—I see 10 more pounds of butter in my future—but until then, let’s just get into this week’s list of Friday faves. Carry on crouton…
In honor of Super Bowl…these guys have a lot to say. Sort of.
Currently craving this salad.
I am all over this lightened-up chicken pot pie — come to mama!

I’m a big fan of picking up fresh blooms at my local Smith’s and making them my own. It’s one reason why I’m loving this post on how to hack supermarket flowers to look like a million bucks! (p.s. word is mason jars are so 2014. agreed.)
I signed up for this month long series of e-mails in January, and even though it’s February, I’m still going back through to glean the wisdom.
I’ve been cleaning out my cabinets and ditching all the extra crap and consolidating the rest. Can’t wait to share the results! I’m using a whole lot more of glass jars with these lids and have become a big fan of this paint pen method.
and while I’ve downsized my gadget section, I’m not gonna lie…
I’m curious about this kitchen gadget. Has anyone out there tried it?
In anticipation of the Oscars..Smudge and I saw the movie and loved it, but these girls take devotion to a whole new level. Adorable.

Did you see La La Land? This video shows off all of the great musicals the movie paid tribute to. Fun.

Here’s what happens when you go a month without social media. Could you do it?
The most stylish tiny home I’ve seen yet. But. But. What about all my STUFF?
My fiddle leaf fig is totally dusty. So I checked out this guide for caring for my green leafy friends, and my favorite orchid store said this is what they use to keep the leaves shiny. Ordered!
So, I have a favorite local facialist who does not only amazing facials, but slips my hands and feet into warming gloves and gives head and back massages as part of the deal too. I’m a total devotee. I LOVE the creamy lotion she uses and thankfully, she shared the brand with me. It’s an insider’s secret. And now, I’m sharing it with you. The lavender scent is HEAVENLY! #payitforward
This would be a very sweet and personal Valentine’s Day present for any girl on your list. And yes, for yourself too.
This dress is making me want to go to the islands. Pretty dang sexy.
These sandals. Again. Islands…
Recipes I Pinned This Week
The Super Bowl’s just around the corner and I’ve spied some good looking bowls this week! Here are three recipes I’ve pinned this week that I think will bowl you over.
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Meatballs
It’s not officially game day without Buffalo Chicken-flavored something, and I’m pretty sure I could scarf down a whole plate of these mouthwatering meatballs!
Hot Reuben Dip in a Bread Bowl
Oh sure, no problem, just take my favorite sandwich and make a dip out of it and then put it in a luscious mound of bread. Have. MERCY.
Sticky Thai Peanut Chicken Wings
Everyone knows wings are absolutely mandatory for the Super Bowl, and these look INSANE.
I hope you have a fun food and football-filled weekend, everyone!
