Happy Friday friends!
In This Post
Look at that. We’ve made it through the first week of the new year, hopefully unscathed, still resolute with our (re)solutions of taking all the steps, thinking more of others, and making note but not imbibing of all the brownies, cookies and cakes we see online for future snacking opps once our health challenges have been met.
Meal planning has been front and center of my 2017 plans thanks to my printed planner and this free printable weekly meal planner/to-do list. And if you sign up for the Nourished Planner newsletter, we have a daily email of 21 ways to use your planner for the best year ever. Even if you don’t have a planner, the tips will definitely get you in new years goal achieving shape.
And if you haven’t purchased your planner yet and still want one, get it soon because stock is running low. YEA!
Speaking of entering the year unscathed, it wasn’t quite so for my cute lil’ mama who didn’t see a chair behind her in exercise class, tripped, fell, and broke her wrist. As a fellow wrist breaker, I feel so bad for her, especially since she broke the OTHER wrist just 6 years ago. Well mom, we’ll trip the security alarms at the airport together. Little hiccups like this one are just another reminder I need to take better care and pay more attention to those around me that I love.
p.s. Happy birthdays today Kim and Angie!
This weekend we are going to be living it up in the winter wonderland that Utah has been blessed with. It’s been snowing in the mountains non-stop since January 1 and we are having the best ski season in years.
Last weekend we headed to Solitude Mountain Resort with friends in town from Colorado for the Outdoor Retailer Show (congrats on the big win guys!) because you know, Utah snow trumps Colorado snow every day of the week :). What a fun day with plenty of turns and a mid mountain feast of amazing Indian food at the newly renovated Roundhouse, with the original cement and rock dining room featuring the most amazing round fireplace you’ll ever see. Seriously mid-mountain dining at its best.
This weekend we’re hitting the slopes again for a little pre-birthday-week celebrating. Let’s get this thing started early. There’s a whole lot to celebrate. Being alive and well for one…
But enough about me, let’s dig into this week’s Friday Faves!
I’m still not ready to accept this lovely man and his lovely family are leaving us.
And so bid adieu to this President with a look at the favorite foods of Presidents of the past.
This 30-minute chicken soup is totally keeping with the warm trend.
Craving this salad.
and because I can never get enough…
10 healthy and hearty salads that make a meal.
But then…these pot pies.
These are seriously the most magical macarons I’ve ever laid eyes on.
And speaking of unicorns…
Have you guys heard about unicorn hot chocolate yet? Yep, it’s a thing and it’s pretty magical too.
Taco spiced chili. Another one to bookmark for my Instant Pot!
and in another ode to the Instant Pot…
I’ve had the WORST LUCK with peeling eggs for the past few years. I mean, every single time I boil an egg and peel it, it ends up in a shaggy white mess! But thanks to this tip from Amanda of Heartbeet Kitchen, my egg peeling days are just getting started.
Another cookbook I’m adding to my collection. Because she IS the queen.

This bathroom makeover and the family’s story is inspiring.
We’re giving our kitchen a little nip here and a tuck there and changing a few things up with our storage and countertops so I’ll be doing a whole lot of reorganizing soon. OMG! They put the new marble countertops in yesterday and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!
So back to organizing…ever since visiting Melissa’s home last year, I’ve been so jealous of her minimalist organized ways so I’m thrilled she finally shared her secrets. Her tip for using these plastic lids for Ball jars as storage containers is worth the read alone! I wonder if I’ll ever be able to strip it down … #organizedgoals
in related cleaning news…
I used to use Tide Pods for my laundry, but I’ve switched to this detergent and I LOVE it. The smell is the best—and it lasts—when you layer it with the fabric softener and dryer sheets.
and speaking of minimalism…
Have you seen this yet? My friend Courtney is featured in it!
The best dressed of the Golden Globes. IMO Kristen Bell killed it.
10 haircuts you need to think about for 2017. #3 & #4 are on my list.
